Latvian Osprey nest 2018 - Tija and Teo

16: 17. Teo has brought stick and, as usually put an its on Tija. Then calmly began repairing the nest. Soon Tija, slightly chirped and flew from the nest. However, after a minute's walk arrived and landed on the webcam.

Teo incubates. 16: 39. Teo flew away from the nest. Tija chirps while sitting on the webcam. A minute later she jumped into the nest. Tija now on the egg.

18: 03. Teo arrived with a nice headless fish. Hungry Tija quickly took the fish and flew into the forest. She flies over there looking for a dinner table.

20:51 A short walk before night by Tija, she flew off and returned after some seconds

When I checked in about 6:30 this morning Teo had brought Tija a nice fishie. A very hungry Tija got up to eat on the nest & there were 2 eggs

Teo rolled the eggs & took his place incubating .. he seemed so proud of himself

Tija has laid the egg tonight, in chat they write that 2 eggs were visible at 4:46 AM

10:55 Teo left
10:56 Tija is back, immediately came Teo for mating and flew away

11:45 Tija called and left, 11:46 she is back on the eggs

13:56 Teo landed with a stick, they both are chirping warning
13:57 A strange osprey flew low over the nest, Teo left to chase the stranger away

14:03 Teo is back with a big stick

It seems that it's snowing...or is it rain?

14: 33. Tija someone scared and suddenly flew from the nest. Less than a minute later, she came back and covered her eggs. Now Tija is chirping.



14: 43. Teo wants at least 4 eggs. 14: 45. Teo brought a soft material. Tija already not chirp, and loud begging for a fish. 14: 47. She went for a walk.

Peixatera et al.: Are the two visible eggs recent, i.e. what happened to the initial egg (which was left alone for a while and then 'buried')?
Is one of the two eggs the 'old' egg? I did follow this nest but still I must have missed something.

16:01 Tija came home and began chirping for the fish, Teo is on the eggs
16:15 Finally Teo stood up and flew away at 16:16
16:19 Teo is back with nest material, Tija is chirping, 16:23 Teo left

Rita , both eggs (second and third) on the nest are "new", the first egg is somewhere in the nest bowl under the nest material

I don't think ospreys would forget a buried egg, if it's not broken or damaged. Maybe it was kicked out or carried away accidentally by one of the adults.

Someone mentioned a visit of an owl a while ago. Are owls eating eggs? Also a pine marten or another bird could have stolen the egg.
