Thank you Urmas for the news!

I'll add here the picture of the Black Stork Map. And even more: There are photgraphs by Our German friend and colleague Carsten Rohde. He has written about Raivo on his web site. In mid-January Raivo paid a visit a few hundred kilometres northwestwards, to the foot of Kilimanjaro, but soon returned to the mangrove groves on the coast of the Indian Ocean:

Raivos Afrikareise 2009/2010

(Suddenly I became unsure to add the photgraohs here without permission.. ..I cannot imagine that 'our friend would say no if only asked, but..so..

I wonder why Raivo suddenly decided to change his winterplace.

Raivo has behaved all these four years in same way - so it is or written in his genetical code or he simply feels well doing so...

Different spot colors are not important, simply technical difference.

Dear Olga,
don't mind, as far as I know Carsten he will be happy about the publicity for his new website. I can't imagine that he could have problems with showing parts of it and the link in a forum like this here. He is so engaged in his blackstork-banding-project and always happy to find other blackstork fans as well.
I hope that soon there will be the possibility to translate the different articles of his site. I saw that an English native speaker showed interest in it in his guest book, because the result will be much better than if one of us will do that.

I just thought that it would be polite to aks permission.. I doubted who could do that. Anyway: Today we have got permission from Carsten Rohde to add his photographs of Toomas here. :loveshower: I have to think if I put them here or some elsewhere here in Black stork camera forum. He has personally sent three quite big photographs to use... they are huge..

Olga, would you like to put those huge pictures here
viewtopic.php?f=2&t=91

Our Super Special topic needs some help - it suffered from lack of server space last year, and never really got started!

Putting very big pictures on an ordinary topic may may it difficult for some members to view that page, but at least on the Super Special topic everyone knows that big pictures are expected!

About Tilda, the wintering white stork: Sorry, hasty reading - Õhtuleht article was dated 10.03.2003! :D (well, day & month were correct ...)
So it was the first year that white stork Tilda spent the winter in Estonia that was described in the article. It was -30 in January that year too.
Anyone who knows more about her this year?
A lot of newspapers reported about her around end of January, but after that nothing it seems.

Mystery;The Blue Stork in Biegen
A mysteroious blue stork has appeared at the weekend in Biegen (east of Brandenburg) raising the curiousity and the admiration of the locals, but also the scepticism of ornithologues.
No variety of blue storks being known- this phonomenon of turquoise colouring has been signalled in the little walking- birds- the specialists suppose that the animal (!)
has received this tinte (?dye) in his place of hibernation in unknown circumstances.
Voila.!!
There is a second photo in the paper version of the stork showing him/her building the nest i.e flying to the nest with nesting material. Don't know if one could find that on the link.
So,the question is raised.. :dunno:
I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw this today.
We had better ask any German members for more.!!
Maybe Asteria ? Leonia or Urmas ?

Same story in The Telegraph (U.K.)
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/picture ... l?image=11
Beautiful photo.
Dont see why,if the bird fell in a pot of paint (re:Telegraph) :puzzled: why the whole surface of the stork is not painted ? Nor his legs nor the beak ? :dunno:
I feel sorry for him (suppose it is male as he is preparing the nest),how will he ever find a mate looking so hum, weird ?

Very beautiful colour indeed! Just lovely.

I hope he/she finds a mate - after building the nest - and we will see the chicks...

If we zoom the pic in the french link it's possible to see that the stork has also blue in the knees and beak, and in some of the black feathers. And the "black" feathers are "faded", they seem to have been painted also

wow, what a colour! that looks exactly as natural as blue roses... :puzzled: they are dyed, too. - but the bird doesn't seem to be sick really, not nauseated i mean.. has it been sighted later?
