Some photos of the garden when Autumn is here at hand. First two photos of Great tits. The winter time will be hard for them in any case. These Great tits are mostly chicks from a nest that was situated under the roof tiles in a corner of the roof edge.

Today there are more yellow leaves on birches! It seems that this year the Fall comes earlier than last year

Cover your tomatoes with plastic -- maybe even in the day to make it warmer -- covering them at night will protect against a soft frost.

All those tits are so adorable.

Olga I see the apples are doing very well too. Do they change colour or are they a green variety ?
The Tits are a whole bunch there.!! Maybe they will go south in the fall ?
But in Tartu with the birdfeeder last winter we saw lots there, so maybe they will stay with you.?
The garden is still nice and green so I think the automn is not here yat.
Last two days we had 28° again but a lot of rain. I don't really know what the weather will do anymore.. :puzzled:
p.s. In the 'view to the South from the upstairs window' do I see a brown animal on the tree-trunk up high...in the middle of the photo :puzzled:

This female squirrel has some injury, I don't know to describe it in English, a 'lesion'? Alice has noticed it earlier. It looks different to the scar that Silk ear had (it has almost wholly healed). Some pictures where the 'injury' can be seen:

Other photos of her that afternoon 24th August.

Is this the squirell we thought had a tick on her face ? It seems she has a small 'cyst' there,it may have been a tick at some stage. It is now healed, thankfully.

macdoum wrote: I love this photograph. :D Such a nice 'scruffy' squirell and the details of the paws are very good.
I see the long nails and no wonder Silk-ear got such a wound..

There is not much you can do about the tick,Olga..you would have to catch the fella first.. :shake: I hope you don't have tick-borne diseases there in your part of Finland ? I suppose not or the dogs would have to be protected ?
Here I give the cats special DROPS on the neck ever month to avoid ticks and fleas.
 to you and all the squirrel friends

Yes! You are right, macdoum- it is just the same squirrel. I have given her a name in my mind. Because she resembles one of our Finnish writers, Anja (Snellman).. I called the tick at first as a mite! Yes, the mite disappeared soon.

A photo from the 24th July of this other female of the two who have visited the feeder during summer:

So, in this photo (24th July, page 18) especially she looks like Anja Snellman:

Image

Because this female has a 'roundish head and profile and relative big eyes I have thought that it could be a quite yuong squirrel - but I can't be sure.

The tick was behind the right ear. Squirrels may have other 'insects' too, fleas as tenants in thei fur..(kirppuja

A photo of 'Anja' with the tick behind the right ear, on the 24th July:

I need to go backwards in time. The 25th August Silk ear made a short visit. It was late, at 19:00 and there were huge dark clouds in the sky. Some times a rapid ray of sun lighted the garden. It's funny how dark the tail of Silk ear looks here.

It had been raining too during the afternoon. In the first photo there is the scar on her 'waist'. Of course this 'trait' to recognize her will disappear in time..and others 'traits' may appear later on..

On the day before yesterday the 26thAugust , from 12:30 to 13:45 there was 'Anja' the other female - I took lots of photos in short times, the lightning was occasionally rather good.

I noticed that she seems to have got new wounds on her body. I have not seen those wounds before.. what's going on somewhere on our hill - it makes me worried! :puzzled:

Image

Some twenty photos of 'Anja' follow..the new wounds will be seen better in other photos below when she turned her right side to see.

Later the 26th August at 17:00 came Silk ear. The lightning was peculiar, or my camera made the colors a bit strange.. Silk ear's tail looked light grayish and her forehead looked darker than usually. But I am sure that she is Silk ear.

Here in this photo the old scar of the wound on her nose and muzzle is seen, not very good, because it has been healed very well.
