Celebrations at last! The nest cam is live.

Thanks to all those who did the work to bring us the nest activites for another year, with our much loved adult Sea Eagles, Linda and Sulev.

All of the following information is taken from forum members' posts about events seen on the webcam image.

The following information is taken from forum members' posts about events seen on the webcam. Adults seen on nest
  • 2010: Sulev, March 1; Linda March 6
  • 2009: Both on nest March 5, when cam started

Mating behaviour
  • 2010: first on March 8, last on March 15
  • 2009: March 7

"Stranger eagle" on the nest
  • 2010: March 19 and 25

First egg
  • 2010: March 21
  • 2009: March 7 or 12 (uncertain)
Second egg
  • 2010: March 24
(see Renno's post about incubation periods April 26th, page 116)

Hatch Dates
  • 2010: April 28 and April 29 (page 121)
  • 2009: April 16
First self-feeding by eaglets
  • 2010: maybe June 14, certainly June 15 (Timmu, the smaller one (page185). Age: 7 weeks)
  • 2009: June 3
Date last feeding by adults
  • 2010: Linda fed Timmu July 15
  • 2009: (?)
Flight exercise - feet off nest
  • 2010: July 6 (page 215)
  • 2009: May 31st at 21.00.
Live prey
  • 2010: brought to nest June 19 (page 193) and again June 21 (Timmu killed the prey).

Adult sleeping posture first noted
  • 2010: June 25
  • 2009: June 4
Branching
  • 2010: June 23
  • 2009: June 5
Several reports of empty nest but eaglets vocalising close to camera
  • 2010: June 11-12
First Flights
  • 2010: Timmu fell from nest July16 (page 230, Lucy's video), returned to nest July 17 so Maiden Flight on that occasion?
  • 2010: Teele: July 23
  • 2009: Unknown, due to webcam fault. Probably early July.

Ringing
  • 2010: May 28 - June 1 Renno and Urmas visited the nest and did webcam repairs. Adult WTE then absent from nest for 16 - 17 hours.
  • 2009: Adults were absent 22 hours after ringing visit.
Names
  • 2010: May 30; eaglets were named Teele and Timmu
  • 2009: March 12; Adults were named Linda and Sulev (page 12)
Tail Markings

jippii! :loveshower: finally!
and darn: i missed the first half an hour! :slap: :rotf:

it looks in habited even though the inhabitants are out at the moment. there are lots of fresh greeneries, pine twigs even with cones. the interior decorators have been busy. :rolleyes:

btw: is Pontu camera on, too? what is the address?

Let's hope the owners of the nest - Linda and Sulev - will breed this year, like some previous seasons!
But nobody knows... That's a bit strange that no eagles visible, though the weather is fine...

they were quite often away from the nest in the afternoons but busy working at the nest early in the mornings.

Ame, I am sorry to say that we have no information about Pontu, this year I think I heard that EE net needs the server space for more important matters.
Now what can be more important than Linda and Sulev?

Pontu camera has come online. i don't know why it first seemed as if the trees in the back were tilted... now they are standing upright. :laugh:

the sound on my picture is hizzing in a rather nasty way... :unsure: and the picture is freezing and breaking all the time. i hope it will get better.... :help: how about you others? are you receiving fine?

Yes, there are intermittent crackling noises, but it is windy there. The image is constant.

The nest bowl is all prepared and ready for the egg.

I see what ame means,the cam seems like a mirage,sort of fading and moving in milliseconds. :rolleyes:
