After a rainy Easter weekend here is Birgit again. How they missed going for birding, but yesterday the sun came out if also only a little bit, but so they headed for Fuente de Piedra and Campillos where they had some terrific experiences!

Highlight was the wedding dance of a Great Crested Grebe couple!

The photos you find here:
Lagoons of Fuente de Piedra and Campillos – April 24 2011

At the Guadalhorce-Mouth in that moment many Little Egrets are resting on their way home to their breeding places:

Image

Here is the report which also tells about the worries of a Plover couple, because it has great fear, even out of no reason, of his neighbor Mrs. Stilt:

Guadalhorce-Mouth – March 23 2011

The marsh areas of Odiel are only in 70 km distance from Doñana. Despite I have heard a lot about that I didn’t know the area personally. This had to be changed

Image

And here you find the report:

Marismas of Odiel – May 11 2011

Yesterday Birgit and friends had been at the Guadalhorce-Mouth – what a joy – they even were able to admire lots of chicks! Here the White-headed Duck family

Image

Which caused a stir, because one of the chicks was lost:(. But it showed up again! :D

The whole story and the chicks of the Stilts you find here:

Guadalhorce-Mouth- May 24 2011

Yesterday Birgit had been in the late afternoon at the Guadalhorce. The gulls are now populatinbg the lagoons, because the beaches are totally in the control of the summer vacationers. They discovered a Mediterranbean Gull, a Little Gull an they were particularly impressed by a young begging Slender-billed Gull with its mother:

Here you’ll find the report:
