Grey seal Hallhüljes Halichoerus grypus
Actually the seals began to gather at the beginning of the thaw, on Thursday. How did the ”greys” know that it would turn into a long-lasting thaw?
Judged by a glance it can be believed that there are well over three hundred there. Where many are together things always happens …
In the morning when the web camera started working there was a dead seal pup foetus in the foreground – a premature end to a female seal’s gestation. First in place were of course the watchful ravens, after that crows and two young ringed white-tailed eagles, they were also joined by an adult eagle.
The crows know how to distract the eagles by pulling their tail feathers; herring gull ((Larus argentatus) juveniles were also visible.
There are a couple of pages with pictures and video records from the events in the LK forum: LINK
