Uus kaamera

Tänavu on talvine merikotkaste toitmisplatsi kaamera pisut hilisema stardiga kui varasematel aastatel. Kaamera sättisime koos Tiidu ja Joosepiga paika 8. detsembril, aga hääle saime Beta Grupi abiga toimima alles uue aasta alguses.

Grey herons at Preedi

Returning migrants are always welcome in spring. The spring-fed Preedi river, in eastern Estonia, isn't ice-covered, and so food can be found in the shallow bank waters. A grey heron is there, and it isn’t a bird who stayed for the winter. It is easily recognizable with the blueish-grey and white plumage, long legs and long neck. Adult birds have a long, dark crest at the nape, juveniles have a black crown, and some other minor details differ as well.

A PLEA TO DRIVERS: the snow is thick yet, and migrating birds often land on roads when they arrive.
When you have safely passed the birds, please sign with your headlights to make meeting drivers aware of the risk.

It helps to reduce speed and increase awareness.
