White-tailed eagle winter web camera short summary – web camera season closes

Autumn this year was warm and long, and so the winter eagle web camera started later than usual, but the eagle season was very active. Eagles visited nearly every day and during the best days some twenty different individuals were in view of the camera that worked from January 5th to March 23rd. The most active eagle periods were at the end of January, in mid-February and around March 10th. Estimated on basis of the ringed birds (23%), a total of 80-100 different individuals visited the camera grounds! With the zoom facility of the camera the ring codes of 19 birds were read. Among those two birds were originally from Sweden, eight from Finland and ten from Estonia. The most far-away visitor came from Lapland.

Eagle Club (Kotkaklubi), Estonian Ornithological Society (EOÜ) and Looduskalender thank EEnet, SA Silma Wetlands and Beta Group for their generous assistance. Our greatest thanks go to Mutikluti from LK forum and her assistants, who have been camera operators during many long days!
The enterprise was supported by the ESTLAT programme through the Estonian Ornithological Society project "Eagles cross borders" and KIK, the Estonian Environmental Investment Centre.
