Nature is a miracle

A small museum is located in the little village of Käsmu in North Estonia, on the shore of the Gulf of Finland. The  Käsmu Maritime Museum has been in the house of the Czar-time border guard chain for some twenty years already. It is the private museum of  Aarne Vaik. The house belongs to the state, and the museum is there more or less by squatter’s rights...

Aarne Vaik on the steps of the museum with Irish setters Roosa and Puna (Pink and Red). The steps of the Maritime museum is one of the best places in the world to  sit and contemplate the state of the world.

View from the web camera on March 15th, 2013, at 13:04. By the Käsmu Maritime Museum’s web camera, familiar to Looduskalender readers, we try to show the spell-binding views from Estonia’s northern shore. The camera has gathered friends and Käsmu fans all over the world. For fishermen the weather station is a great help.

On Wednesday, December 4th, 2013, I visited Käsmu with photographer Toomas Tuul to discuss developments of the museum’s home page. Before leaving we recorded a brief video with Arne Vaik entitled „Nature is a miracle“.

Aarne Vaik talks about the sailors’ Christmas tree and about the role of nature as children grow up.
