Green elfcup.
On decaying broadleaf wood the green elfcup or green stain fungus (Chlorociboria aeruginascens) often grows, but we don’t notice it, because this fungus seldom has fruiting bodies. More often one can find virulently green-coloured wood, the result of the metabolism of the fungus. But if you find fruiting bodies it is worthwhile checking if they are a little luminiscent. It happens when humidity and air temperature are suitable. The fruiting bodies are leathery to touch and not slimy, as can also be seen from Mats’ photo.
