The life of our Animal of the Year has calmed down at the Estonian Independence Day on February 24th. The heat period is past, and spring and bringing up offspring gleam on the horizon. Weather gods have been kind; the old saying ”snout sore or ground frozen” has not been necessary. With the mild winter and in places no snow cover life has been good for the boar herds that have not been infected by swine fever.
Last autumn provided a quite generous acorn harvest, so it is easy to find food in forests with oaks.
