My first view was around 09:18 and the first close view, thanks to the operator, some ten minutes later.

Yes, the camera turns 360 degrees, but the microphone is fixed. Unfortunately, the tree trunk always remains behind.

We think that there was at least 3 different individuals. Probably even 4 (one behind the camera). I think that you all can help us to distinguish them. One possible way is to observe the patterns on the tail feathers, especially the presence and/or size of the white part. Snapshots looks as suitable tools. Afterwards it is possible to compare different pictures.

Thank you. In mono and with a static camera the orientation is already difficult and now it is possible to see one calling bird close while hearing another one better. Your answer helps with the interpretation of what we observe.

I think I have this morning close ups seen of only one male but I am not completely sure. Here pictures from 10:00 and 09:30.

It is quiet by now in lekking site, but what you think about to start with bird species list in Capercaillie cam. As the bird of the year has been nominated by Estonian Ornithological Society, all birds around are important and worth to know. Maybe after years we even can make some conclusions according changes in list.
If members of forum agree, we can also estimate in the end of cam season the robust abundance of every observed or heard species. Hagnat - are you interested to guide us in this matter?
Perfect would be if new species are documented somehow with time stamp to have possibility to check in case of need. Technically I see that in first page there is a list itself and further people can discuss the observations and fix new observations with comments maybe. Felis Silvestris, are you ready to start with such one?

Actually it would be interesting to have with every nest cam such bird list, but personally I can't keep it in order, because need to pay more attention on technical aspects of cameras and often need to be away for longer time...
So if there are members in forum who would like to be a moderator of certain cam bird list, it would be nice and probably also educational for all of us (to know better the species and their behavior).
Some attempts have been also before, but somehow it slowed down.

08:34 the first Capercaille I hear since first light

This is my list of birds for this cam until now.
Only in special cases I keep dates or times.

Black woodpecker
Bullfinch
Buzzard
Capercaille
Chaffinch
Crested tit
Great spotted woodpecker
Great tit
Hooded crow
Mistle thrush
Nuthatch
Raven
Red or Parrot crossbill
Redpoll
Siskin
Skylark
Song thrush
Willow tit
Not yet confirmed: Tree creeper

The only close songbirds until now are Crested tit and Willow tit. The others are visitors, flying overhead, or are much farther away.
A louder volume would help.

I have made an example of a list that we could use, especially Hagnat?
I sent an email to Urmas and Felis for permission.
