I have been watching but not getting many photos -- first some images from from a couple days ago -- a dirty Birmingham Boy

Image

Image

I like this photo because you can see how big the front paw is and how the toes are each quite separate.

This may be B Boy #1 -- Blondie, who is no longer the blondest. He had a slight limp.

Sunday 27 March -- sunrise drive

Happy Easter

Tingana caught a male impala -- we missed the actual leap, Brent had been on foot and heard some noise.
By this time the impala is still alive, but it never got a chance to make one peep. The impala might be only 20 kilos less than Tingana, so Tingana had to kill it quickly.

Then Tingana drug it off under a leaning tree. Then at least he was safe from vultures. (I hope he keeps it safe from Hyena)

I have been lazy recently.

23 May Morning Drive

Today we saw an African Wildcat (maybe it is a Southern Africa Wildcat). We sat with it for about two hours and missed the final moment, when it caught a Fork-tailed Drongo.

Jamie found the Wildcat by accident. She was waving the light about when they were about to shoot the moon -- the light reflected on the cat's eyes.

On and off the cat's eyes would focus and it would stalk

It is a long time ago I was here. I am still watching live safaris when possible, but only on my iPad. I wonder if I can post screenshots made with my iPad?
Love all the pictures you all posted!

16 June Morning Drive

Sindile is on drive. He seems quite relaxed (and healthy).

Image

Image

Image

When this collar begins to get too small it will pop off and Sindile will be able to make his way in the world without being tracked.
James said we think Tingana is his father, BUT that his light face seems a bit like the Anderson Male. If he grows very big, it might suggest that Anderson is the father.

I think it might be possible to get screen grabs with an ipad -- but I cannot. I can hardly do anything with an ipad.

I missed the father's day drive -- but :-)
18 June -- evening drive

Sindile found Shadow -- he wanted his mum, but Shadow was not too pleased.
Sindile did NOT harm Shadow's cub.

Shadow and her little cub found each other after she left Sindile.

(Honestly I do not think Sindile is so much of a threat to his mom's cub, but he is probably a danger to Karula's cubs.)

Link to a copy of the drive in case anyone wants to see it.

And I lied about the Southern African Wild Cat -- it did not catch a Drongo it caught a Scrub Hare.
