20:26 H21 brings more food.
And this time she feeds her chicks and they accept it very disciplined. The feed is not pulled.

And I'm throwing the H92 into the race ...

The other older chick H93?
Guess with logic ...

Mini (the youngest) H95?

The feeding is over and H21 takes food for himself. The chicks are full.

The nest is slow to calm down. But everyone is finally ready for the night. H21 will probably still be like that. At least she did when something was hard to see.

June 22nd

Small update ... according to my observations yesterday / today until now it remains a refreshingly positive trend here.

There is enough food (a songbird in the morning today, a large chicken bird in the morning and a medium-sized bird in the afternoon) ... of which there is currently still some left over.

I got the impression that H21 is more hungry than its chicks ... their arrivals in the nest were also not greeted as greedily. But everything is okay - everyone has good harvests and is vital. Just a little dull from the heat ... .

12:42 H44 also tries his visits to the nest for a few seconds ... with dear 'Gjak' ... unfortunately there is no room in this nest for him as a male in the current phase. It seems a little sad (especially probably to me) but it's normal and instinctively determined. To protect the males.

Image technology miserable ... my screenshoter cannot deal with these (actually beautiful) shadow - sun - wind conditions. Seen with my own eyes - H21 and H44 are still fit. From light parents - apart from signs of use.

And then there are these moments of horror. If you don't look at the tablet for two minutes and ...

... and the third head shows itself.

The nest seems to have some leeway through the small entrance.

By the way, H94 can be seen here again. H94 for one of the older chicks.

Too ...
Image

I also think that a ring was wound upside down for us.
Well, it will probably be somewhere between 92 and 95. (Post also the day before yesterday) These rings are not easy to read. Different from the H44 and H21 ... but it doesn't matter. It's H's. And gorgeous chicks of very young great parents !!!! :loveshower:

Since the chicks are at an advanced stage of growth, they also bring smaller birds, rodents. Yes, it's in the prey spectrum range too, but I guess they don't depend on it. According to my observations, H44 is a first-class hunter who beats even larger animals. Almost similar to a female although it is delicate in nature.

Emiliano, @all ... is it conceivable that small prey is meant for the chicks to 'learn'?

Mini, the youngest chick has quickly become the most agile chick. So you could tell him apart. Now he's caught up enormously in his plumage and it's getting more difficult. But ... his head is still 'smoother'.

Mini ... :innocent:

(Just my opinion on the destination! At the beginning the fed chick.)

However, one of the older siblings is also very willing to develop. Midi? The mean chick? As before, I am not sure whether it is a brother or a sister ... .

Chickens have a high instinct to carry prey and feed as soon as they can without the need to learn it. For me these have also started very early. What they will learn are hunting techniques as soon as they can fly, channel that pure force to anything that moves.

They are seen growing in plumage from day to day. The little one has already recovered a good part of the advantage that they took from him.
One of the distinctive points will be the coloration of the upper part of the head (crown) that takes longer as well as part of the face and the feathers that cover the legs (leggings).

For me they are two females and one male.

Greetings and see you tomorrow

June 24th

:hi:

It's having a good time in the nest. Very relaxed ... there is enough food and no sibling rivalries. Enough food to see that the H21 and H44 are always well fed and their chicks are always very relaxed.
Sibling rivalry is seldom an issue at Goshawk anyway.
So I'll report sporadically until further notice. I think we don't (currently) have to record every feather and poop. Let's enjoy the 'let it run' ..... It's going great. :innocent:

Sandra L.! :hi:
Thank you for including our observations. I appreciate it very much!
I do not expect any feedback from an ornithologist here. I depend on feedback in the Latvian forum.
It doesn't really matter, does it?
I also only work with the Tablet A7 (11 inch), it is very tedious ... oh yes. I also don't have top-notch screenshoters or screen recorders. But it has to be enough. Therefore my photos regarding the rings are probably not easy to see for you either. My photos are okay (sharp for me), but the screenshoter blurs them. Similarly, the videos, which are sometimes out of focus. Unfortunately, I have no better option.
As I said - the truth could be somewhere between H92 and H95.
Maybe we'll get some feedback soon.
Best regards!

Let's go...

I also follow some other nests and see that the dry heat is causing some problems in many of the nests.
We cannot assess the extent. Maybe we think worse than it is.
I think our birds have done well so far.

03:54 In any case, our H's are picked up a bit refreshing during the day.

It's extremely difficult (for me) to tell the minis apart.
Mini, the youngest chick is catching up with her feathers! Still very volatile, agile ... curious and the urge for independence is very strong with him. :innocent:
Emiliano, is it the youngest of the males ?!
But for me one of the older minis is still a secret.

Last year I noticed that the girl was actually browner in the plumage. The boy was slate gray in shimmer ... we also have two slate gray chicks, depending on the light. :slap: :book:

I will look for the picture I have in my head right now. It would have been easier if the topics had been split by season.

H21 brings food.
Stormy reception. I think Mini grabbed it first.
(By the way, I think it could well be H95.)

I now only edit the pictures in the cut so as not to fool the colors in the plumage.

No pronounced mantle yet. But approaches.

09:53 Next course for the minis but the interest is very sparse.

I have the feeling that the chicks react more to H21 than to the food.

June 25th

Two moments for today ...
Fluttery chicks ... each one has its own appearance.
The time is approaching that I have to observe more closely or document better. Another beautiful day for today. The minis move together well in their development. Motor as well as social. Mini is still the outlier, he will leave the nest first. He is hungry for life outside the nest. But his siblings are also doing well.
A flighty bunch of healthy mini H's.
