It's difficult with their calls. :dunno:

12:24:19 Young begging call begins
12:24:32 - 36 H21 calls (kikiki)
12:25:00 Two juveniles in the field
12:05:05 - 13, 18/19 H21 ??
A strong, near-begging cry that fades away. In the direction of the two youthful calls.

13:39:00 - 04, 12/13 H21 sounds angry
Greater distance
"Throw your heart across the river and swim after it."

Addendum
Luly 24th

No sightings that day, just heard.
A few moments:
05:00 The first begging calls begin. A juvenile from a great distance.

07:22 also, then it approaches, but remains distant.
07:33 Now two voices from close range.

08:59 - 09:05 begging call from a juvenile close.

10:10 - 12 Two voices close.
"Throw your heart across the river and swim after it."

11:47:07 - 18 A kikiki
Not sure if H21 or a Juvenile. This is followed by cries of begging, two voices.
The calls of a juvenile continue near the nest tree.

11:55 The voice moves away
12:01 back, then it's quiet.

12:13:48 can be heard begging call and H44 with 'Gjak'.
This is followed by begging calls and kikiki alternately.

I searched and found it.
https://www.looduskalender.ee/forum/vie ... start=1060

In the post at 12:11 pm I inserted a video in which the change of H21 sounds can be heard. It was then that she started using begging calls as well. Later on, H21 rarely used the kikiki, only off-road in case of danger. Now she seems to be using it as a contact call again.

13:23:40 two, possibly three young people voices approaching excitedly.
13:28:04 - 07 Kikiki H21?
At that point it was quiet.

Now and then there are begging calls.

13:29:33, '39 H44 'Gjak' :innocent:

Then I had to go to work.
I went through the day late in the evening - nothing to see; it was even apparently very quiet. Rarely heard anything.

July 25th

05:18 Removed first begging calls to be heard.
05:18:55 H44 brings food to the nest. :innocent:

I have to admit that I had to see very carefully which of our H's it was. It was unclear to me at first. H44 has also improved physically this season. He looks stronger. I like it.

05:19:06 A whisper of 'Gjak'.
To see more than to hear. But now he's identified.

He stands on the nest beach, looks and waits.
H44 holds the food firmly in its claws and jumps through the nest with it. Nobody comes - nobody calls.

05:21 Aha, removes a nagging.
05:22 Lightning fast and quietly it flies down with the food.

Only later do you hear calls.

H44 is still in shape, it will pass the food out of the nest.

It keeps the part of the neck and the eyebrow very clear with respect to the others, in addition the eyes are taking more color although here the same happens with the female.

Although there is a difference in size between the two, when she is closer to the camera they seem the same. It's the same with chickens.

That H44 is your downfall.

That H44 is your downfall.
Yes and yes. :innocent:

I'm not sure what you mean Emiliano.
In fact, I have admiration for H44.
He came therefore as a fidgety young goshawk in infancy ... tender and flighty.
Hand on heart - who has actually given him this continuity to cope with this task. Although from the beginning it was suspected that he is tough.

Yes i like him a lot. He has a very agile quality and manages to bring calm and security more and more. He knows no boundaries - he is caring beyond himself.
H21 is a perfect partner. She has the power to go out and protect.

I hope we don't lose this couple.

I'm on vacation soon and will watch my videos again in the beginning. I'll roll it all up again from January - when we heard it but didn't see it. When the time came for a goshawk to visit and call and defend this tree many times ... I almost think H21 attracted H44. Not the other way around.

The rings are actually a problem for me. I would like to provide specific information about the Juvenile. But I can't read it.
There was a time when H21 had more piquant eyebrows than H44. Both are still developing and H44 has seldom been observed at rest for weeks.

But look at the chest feathers - the transverse ligament is developing. For both.

Not on the subject but while I am writing here on a warm day, a young bird is sitting next to me.

Image

He probably overestimated himself ... flown after his parents?
We know you. They have been coming to our feeding station for months. I called him Karl. Storms have been reported for today and tomorrow. I hope Karl stays calm. He doesn't seem ready for great adventure yet.

Riga:
17:11 begging calls begin and two juveniles will soon be heard.

Northern Germany:
The weather front is approaching and Karl makes no move to flee. The father was there, noticed his chick - both made contact calls.

I expressed myself with a set phrase and the translators get a bit confused.

That's it: yes, yes, yes.

He seems very serene and responsible H44 and has managed to fulfill his obligations and more. He has brought tenderness and knowing how to be and H21 has let him be (which is not easy)
What would he be like when he was little? (He still is, even though he's young)

He was born very close to this nest and would be before H21 but as they roam so much it may also be that she came close to the nest at the time they feel heat and an empty nest attracts.

We have seen that just until the last minute they have not looked at the nest continuously, other adults in their territory do it months in advance. Hope to see you there.

A good job of feeding the birds, although in the summer they tend to pull more naturally (insects, etc.)
Karl is in luck.

Greetings and to prepare the vacations that will surely be well deserved.

As is customary in the early morning, maximum activity of the chickens, they were sounding and moving very frequently, one far away and the other closer and surely changing and playing.

From 5:01 to 6:27 at least.

If we continue observing this time slot we can see when the dispersion is approaching.

Greetings

Activity today from 4:45 to 16:30 h

At all times they have been quite active, their presence being noted by the voices and several times in the nest and its surroundings.

There has been no inactivity even in the central hours of the day. On one occasion I thought I was listening to one of the adults but it could be a chicken with its ki-ki-ki-ki

Although the first flights have not been dated due to the difficulty of observing them in this tree, I believe that they occurred between July 6 and 10 and they possibly leave the vicinity of the nest in 2-3 more weeks. There will be sporadic visits from a chicken in the city since we will be almost at the maximum population after the time of flying chickens.

To finish enjoying that there will not be much left and to wait for this couple to settle in this area.

Greetings

Emiliano, I greet you very warmly! :2thumbsup:

Yes, I need to start rolling up, I already have a pile of notes ...

I have some perceptions within me today.
For one thing, I increasingly miss H44. Sometimes his delicate 'gjak' could still be heard. Not for days.

H21 ... her kikiki can't be confused, but this sound has been mixed in for some time. And I'm not sure if it isn't one of our minis.

I can only hear two of our mini H's. What about the third one?

And now I have to admit that I have no relation to them. They are too similar, the rings too difficult to read (not really at all). I'm so sorry!
It was easier with the A97 and A98. Both were easier too.
Our minis find it difficult to part. The A's were faster. Out and hardly heard. While the next generation is increasingly calling ... begging .... calling ... somehow doesn't want to cut the cord.
Was the pace too demanding? Would it have been better for our minis if they had more time to develop?
Did H44 and H21 set the pace or is it in the genes?

I watch every day but I can't find peace. Everything was good, but it makes me uneasy that these juveniles are so sedentary.

I'm starting to roll up now.

Ah, briefly to Karl before I start.

Yes, I'm not thrilled to intervene either. However, I also feed in summer, for example.
Our birds like to grab raisins (soak them beforehand!), dry mealworms and I have videos of how starlings feed their young here with us.

Why?
Look and find insects. Yes, there are hardly any!
Everything in my garden and on the terrace has been planted for bees and all insects! I was prepared - the table is well set. But the guests are missing.
There are very few insects here. That's why I feed.

I caught Karl the same evening.
Image

The little sweet devil bit me heartily several times. :rotf: :innocent:
He came to the hedge of the property where I assumed the nest was. We know his parents. They get food and we know where they're taking it.

Karl was strong ... he'll make it.
It was just a reckless odyssey.

July 26th

I have not documented any sightings for that day.

04:30 begging calls begin.
One, occasionally two Juveniles to be heard.

05:01:48 calls A goshawk lands on the yellow mast.
05:02:49 The goshawk leaves the mast.
Shortly afterwards a loud call can be heard from the nest tree, which then disappears into the area.

That day the stream stuttered a bit.

A juvenile apparently flies off the entire area calling.

July 27th

05:30 Restrained begging.
A juvenile.

07:50 It flutters onto the side branch, then into the nest.
Fiddling, calling .... then back to the side branch and higher.

It looks well fed. So no reason to nag.
And by the way ... it looks like his father H44 with the mother's eyebrows. :innocent:

29th of July

10:08 I have to puzzle.
Two juveniles or one and H21.

A voice can be heard in motion. Sometimes closer, sometimes further.
Then there are two again.

10:09:07 ???
10:10:06 Jay or Woodpecker
