15:12 H92?
Visibly well fed.

Look, hop and dance in the nest.

15:13 It jumps back down into the nest after a sibling starts calling.

Nestling ... and then the Mini H begins to rest.

Even so, it remains very attentive.

15:36 It leaves the side branch quietly.

20:02 A juvenile flies into the tree, calls.

Image

To see it bounce and flutter.

20:05 Now for two.
You can see their butts on the upper left and right side branches.

Image

20:05:48 The first one leaves the tree brook low down and calls.
Number two remains seated, relaxed, while the other (light voice) calls and moves away.

Image

21:07 Only now, an hour later, junior number two flutters into the industrial area, calling. (lower voice.)

30th July

Two of the minis could be heard very early on.

08:31 A little excitement in the field. I run into limits.
I can't say for sure whether, for example, the kikiki comes from H21 or one of the minis. However, I think at least one of the parents was involved.

After the discussion there is calm.

From around 10:00 am there is massive nagging. (high voice)
The juvenile flies back and forth between the terrain and the nest tree and announces that it urgently needs attention.
Sometimes it sounds like it's slapping the tree.

10:21 Sure, now a sibling is taking part.

10:54 The wind is uncomfortable. Nevertheless, one of the juveniles can still be heard clearly.

14:45 nagging :D

The nagging is first placed in the nest, then on the side branch ... finally to chill out on the upper branch on the left.

15:08 The wind is fresh again ... our Mini doesn't mind.

They have skirts like females.

15:14 A quiet, relaxed branch holiday comes to an end - departure.

I miss H44 very much ... a side note.

17:37 And back. :innocent:

Call and lie down.

17:38:02 - 04 kikiki and begging call
H21 or Juvenile?

The girl in the nest picks up her ears. It lies down, later jumps onto the side branch and calls.

The girl has hopped up in the meantime.

17:49 A second juvenile calls his way through the area.
It lands on the side branch and our girl seems to be leaving the tree from above.

....To return through the side entrance? Tricky. We may also have seen all three minis in this situation. Since departure from above to entry from below up into the nest seems too fast for one thing. The meeting is too competitive - there can only be one.

I'm trying to catch up tomorrow and get up to date. It's unbelievable how a vacation can be packed with appointments ....
My bags are packed. Saturday we go to Denmark in the forest. Finally away from duties.

Emiliano, have you ever seen a goshawk with these sounds and a chest mark like this? Or sparrowhawk? He looks grown up, but he doesn't seem to have a stripe pattern. :puzzled: And the tail feathers seem short to me.

Hi Polly :hi:

Normally you are listening to two young people but indeed in one of the videos it seems that it could be all three.

They are very the same and there is not as much difference as between H44 and H21 although one of them does seem smaller.

I believe that they are in normal times of stay in the surroundings of the nest, they have not yet been a month since they flew. Parents teach them on the hunt but when to leave will depend on themselves and they will surely do so.

In one of the videos, a young man is seen with the "V" pattern on the central tail feather as H21.

Regarding the visit to the eagle's nest, I think he is a goshawk with the age of H21-H44, the camera seems closer or with magnification but both the eye and the yellow of the legs give him away. The youngsters that do not reach a year like the minis have the palest yellow of the legs - whitish and this they have it almost like the adults with a strong yellow.

The Goshawk of the South of Europe are usually darker than those of the North.

Greetings and enjoy the holidays

At dawn yesterday (August 12) there was also activity although more distant and getting closer from time to time.
At some point during the day they were by the nest.

Goshawks are said to be from the woods but yesterday I had the opportunity to see a Goshawk crossing an open and clear road in low and fast flight behind a small flock of pigeons that was slightly ahead and higher. They do not hesitate to enter clear and determined outside the breeding period. The breeding area is about 2 km away and this season it has not bred.

Greetings

Emiliano, hello! I greet you cordially. :innocent:

Yes, now our H's from big to small are actually far from the nest.

We knew it - yet it is an unusual emptiness. But - autumn is approaching and with luck, hopefully H44 and H21 are vital and will alternately visit (and defend?) their territory and their nest.
I am amazed that no other juvenile has been seen here before. There are many Goshawk in Riga (is it still like that?). And there will have been offspring. The juveniles should now be gradually all looking for their own territory - away from their parents. :puzzled:

I can now find some peace again at home and at work and would like to try to end this season with my observations without any gaps. Since August 3rd I haven't gotten around to it properly.

I will shorten it a little.

Tomorrow morning then what I can't do today.

Let's go.

Addendum July 31st

It was very quiet in the morning, few of the calls could be heard.

08:03:12 I heard a shot / bang.
In the following there were calls from two juveniles.

12:02 Another calls A juvenile flies calling through the area.

16:01:00 - 03 An angry kikiki.
I couldn't say for sure it was H21. And it came out of nowhere. At that point there was a calm, peaceful atmosphere.

17:46:06 - 59 The excited kikiki of H21 could be heard several times (now for sure).
No calls from the juveniles preceded it. It sounds like it may be happening on the territorial border.

17:47:19 - 48:12 ... H21 is really pleased off. 8-)
Then their calls approach.

17:48:23 A juvenile (?) with a begging cry and kikiki in the tree.

17:48:47 clap the wings
A goshawk leaves the tree. .
H21 and one of their juveniles can be heard in the area.

18:41 Two juveniles can be heard from different distances.

10:36 Two youthful voices can be heard.
One slips into the nest on the lower floor.

Jump on the side branch, call .. jump higher. And so he stays seated and seated. :whistling:

11:05 It flies down like an arrow, calls out. He flies back and forth for a while, calling.

11:07 Three voices - two away, one closer.

16:58 First to hear, then to see.
Again the detour via the lower floor. The juvenile is fiddling with something while one of the siblings can also be heard.

Hi Polly. :hi:

Glad to hear from you again.

Chickens are rarely in the area although this morning at 5:18 and 6:24 ki-ki-ki were heard in the background that sounded like apprentices. The weather conditions in the area do not help either and it may be the final thing for them to finish marching.

The chickens will roam around but possibly until January they will not be looking for their own territory, they will only visit nests that they will surely store in their memory to patrol when the time comes.

Last year there were visits to the nest at least in August, October, November, December and already in February with their white feathers unfolded.

We can almost end the season although it is possible that there will be a visit or sound from them.

Good luck to all of them.

Greetings and enjoy the days you have left.
