Aah ... H44 is back in the field.

19:17:58 - 18:02 He reports back.

If anyone can believe it ... balm in my ears.

18:18:18 - 22 H21 is also happy. :D

19:43 Both chirp to each other.

The nest remains untouched. Why actually? Why do they avoid the nest?

Dawn. First morning calls between 6:20:12 and 6:25:07

Between 9:56:52 and 10:12:42, two individuals with calls and answering each other (H44 and another, possibly the young man from the other day)

September 15th

Hello together :innocent:

Headphones sit ... currently I'm still amazing at 07:30. 8-)

Unfortunately, I only started writing down activities from 6:43 am.
So our H's were already active beforehand.
Thank you Emiliano!

06:43 H44, a little excited and pretty close
06:44 yes, excited

A few moments later a 'gjak' follows and then his calls weaken. H44 flutters away, calling.
Maybe he is looking for contact with H21?

07:10 H44 returns to the territory with the crows. He calls - without any particular excitement, but nonetheless determined.

07:12 A chiffchaff
He always enchants me. :2thumbsup: A strange day for its reputation ... I usually only notice it on warm summer days. Maybe they also have some kind of autumn advertisement?

They are very smart.

The same juvenile voice as a few days ago.
Juveniles probably often sound similar, but we know this voice! One of our mini H's.

10:56:52 - 55 H44
10:57:06 - 08 H21
10:57:13 - 17 H44

...Jay/Woodpecker :whistling: (two!)

10:59:35 - 41 H21 with its long tone but noticeably the long warning tone afterwards

The Juvenile calls directly on H21.

10:00:14 - 18 juveniles
10:00:22 - 28 - 31 H21

10:00:53 - 58 Juvenile

10:01:02 - 10 H21 asks to leave the station

Somewhere I had described that H94 and H95 have different voices. Deeper and brighter ... this juvenile is the deeper voice. I don't think H94 for sure

I didn’t find the spot but happened to find this ... H44. July 25th.

Further ...

The calls now alternate.

10:01:36 - 41 - '43 'Gjak'
H21. :2thumbsup:

10:08:28 - 37 H21 is losing patience. Her reputation becomes final and with it she leaves her position.
Does H21 lure her juvenile out or does she gently push / drive it out? I wouldn't want to use the word 'chase away'. H21 acts definitely but gently.
The fact is that H21 operates with pressure though without any aggressiveness. If it were an adult goshawk, their reaction would be different.

In any case, the juvenile remains persistent while H21 leaves its position out of the territory.

10:12:17 H21 can now be heard further away.

10: 16/17, 20 H21 and the Juvenile can still be heard clearly - but probably outside the territory now.
The Juvenile followed its mother.

17:41 H44 calls and sends 'Gjak' over and over again ... it will continue to do so in a row.

18:16 He is further away now
18: 17: 29/30, 38/39

.... and also afterwards his mark.

H44 seems to be and will remain firmly in the area.

(currently I hear him at 18:41)

September 16th

:hi:

Emiliano, thank you! :2thumbsup:

6:22:21

...also

6:27:34
6:30 bis 6:33:52
6:39:15 -48
6:43: 23.29
6:44: 19-27

In fact, our H's seem to be dissatisfied with the situation in the area. Somebody is bothering her.

06:24:28 - 31 You can also hear wing noises / movements in the branches.

Yes, H44 is on the way to sort out the situation.

It sounds like excitement, argument, but the 3rd voice is missing.
06:30:30 We hear our dream team and how they try to ask uninvited guests to come outside.

H44 flies through the entire area. He sounds excited but not aggressive.

The calls continue.

06:41 ... movement in the wood

06:43 H44 and H21

06:55:08 H44 is still fluttering excitedly through the area
06:59:35 'Gjak' then shout

09:39 H44 still present ...

I am currently at 10:22 am and very sure that H44 is present.

No time-out, no separation of this couple so far.
At least I define 'loner' differently.

10:44:07 - 13 H44 a little undecided between love and excitement.

10:47 ...

10:50 If I hear correctly, both call away. H21 with a long tone, H44 speaks to her.
Might already be outside the usual area.

11:07 H44 back in the field, excited.

11:20 am Excitement at the territorial border again?

11:37, 44 H44 alluring again ... :innocent:

I would like a break. I'm really tired but our H's keep their usual pace. :faint:

I rewind and may have missed activities ...

14:34 H44, close.
Sounds like a contact call

Yes hey ... at least a crow answers.

15:05 H44 initially gentle, then irritated.

Nothing conspicuous noticed until now. But nice to know that H44 and H21 still actively defend here and belong to each other.

I'm plopping into bed now ...

A quiet night everyone!

September 19th

Hello, everyone! Emiliano :hi:

Today I am very happy to report that our couple (possibly) H44 and H21 visited their nest together.

07:16:36 H44 lands on the side branch, followed by a second goshawk.
H44 was quickly recognized by his voice. However, the second goshawk is without a sound.

H44 jumps into the nest, plucks and fiddles.
Image

07:19 back to the side branch to the companion, who is still silent.
H44 flutters and dances! :loveshower:
Image

07: 20: 29/30 The second Goshawk breaks his silence and answers H44 to his loving noises - with a squeak. It now appears to be H21! :loveshower:

Both now leave the side branch together.

(I only tried to recognize it using their sounds. The ring can only be seen blurred, too much uncertainty. I may be wrong!)

Good Morning.

How they have changed! They're precious !

At last in the nest (it was a matter of time that being in the area they did not make a visit), it is a pity that only one of them has approached. I have already taken some physical data.

It seems to me that it is H21 that has descended to the center of the nest. I would like to take a closer look at each other because the proportions change depending on the distance to the camera.

First calls and sounds between

It was pretty quiet for two days.

Emiliano received H44 on September 17th in the morning hours:

06:40:17-24
06:43:19-24
06:44:29-34
06:46:27-30 'Gjack'
06:46:44
06:49:45-49
06:52:54-57
06:57:03-08
06:57:24-29 'Gjack'
07:33:41-44

Yesterday I was working 12 hours again, could only wind, but yesterday was apparently a very quiet day too. I only heard a normal relaxed contact call 13:01 (think H44 too).

Today it started 06: 27/28.
But overall very calm again. Which doesn't mean anything - our H's can still be present.
They're quiet.

Emiliano :innocent:

Two opinions also wrestle in me:

In the nest H44 because the behavior and the voice are right. H44 was always more active in the nest ... H21 had little direct contact with the nest before the start of brood. (which surprised me at the time.)
The 'V' is no longer specific as a distinguishing feature because H44 now also carries it after moulting.
But I tried to pay attention to the eyebrows. H44 wears it slim and long. H21 is shorter but stronger.

Here among other things
https://www.looduskalender.ee/forum/vie ... start=1380

Yes, some things will probably change after the spring change, but some striking things will remain.

I can't count on the recognition of the rings too much. They seem to quickly become unrecognizable. Even the rings of the Juvenile could hardly be read.
Incidentally, also a phenomenon in a black stork nest. The rings on the storklets were quickly illegible.

The goshawk in the nest looked bigger, yes. The ring is not H44 (almost actually more H21 or none of it! I zoomed in many moments) But let's not be fooled and let our instincts do the talking - we are happy to guess without committing ourselves.

In addition, I always have problems taking good photos, at least in wind or poor lighting conditions. Some members seem to have better equipment. I am sorry - I have to work with modest resources.
If it were H21 is Nest, behavior and sounds would be completely twisted. :faint:
And now? :/

Hope our couple comes into the spotlight again soon. Contrary to the nature of the Goshawk.
