Bubo has a hard time giving up.

You were all so busy ... thanks! :2thumbsup:

Edit:
So far, Bubo has been very quiet. I'm sure he'll wait until I have to sleep. :shake:

What bird is that? :puzzled:

Martin, we wrote about the owls. It is expected that yesterday they will be heard on the cell phone. Can you hear the call? What do you say? :)

https://youtu.be/bkRQ1ZPIvX0

And something else ...
We now know where their nest is. It lies in a high linden tree between two blocks of flats. We watched her as good as possible yesterday and it was crazy. They were flying obsessively, shouting ... clapping their wings loudly and it looked like they (one of them) were constantly flying against the house wall and balconies. Once she landed on the meadow and remained stunned.
What happened there? Have you ever experienced that? I'm worried a little.

But now finally! :2thumbsup:

21:09 first a crack in the undergrowth. More often today. I have some notes about this ... even after Bubo's visit.
But now to Bubo. :)

Visits from 21:10 to 21:16

21:09 I hear him call and a minute later he lands on the nesting beach.
Bubo calls today with a strong voice, remains on the nest's edge. He always looks around the forest behind him.

Image

Image

21:12 he is completely silent for a few moments and has only eyes and ears for the darkness behind him. Then he calls on and jumps into his nest. You know ... plowing, calling something ... :shake:
21:14 a gust of wind sweeps over the nest. Bubo's ears flutter. :) He gets up and calls vigorously over the nesting edge. Something excites him there.
21:15:33 It sounds like two shots were fired far away. Bubo takes note of it. He looks briefly, but remains relaxed and calls on.
21:16:00 he listens and tightens. Bubo listens ... curious, a bit nervous and flies a few moments later to the nest.

Image

The cracking again ... it sounds like a crackling big fire. (21:20)

Bubo continues until 21:22. :)

April 8th

Check last night: no more visits. But Bubo is combing his territory. ;) He calls from 01:34 - 36, 01:41 - 02:08. Sometimes louder, sometimes quieter.

Have a nice and healthy day for everyone.

Evening visit 20:21 to 20:29

Bubo ends up in the nest ... no time wasted.
He calls and looks expectantly.

Elsewhere the nests fill with life, the emptiness around Bubo hits the mind. It is hard to understand that an eagle owl maintains an empty nest for three years in a row. (2.5? Since Bo 2018 disappeared without a trace in the middle of the season. Nevertheless.)

The top is also interesting again.

Image

20:23 gnawing sticks.

Image

20:26 ... but now call more vigorously and shortly afterwards run to the beach. A little closer and hopefully it will be heard better.

Yeah ... hej Bubo. :2thumbsup:

20:29 silent start in the forest.

April 9th

Evening visit also today from 20:22 to 20:24

Bubo lands just above the edge of the nest. :)
He stands a bit perplexed, undecided ... looks and calls.

Image

Image

Then he begins his ritual of nest care somewhat half-heartedly.
Bubo is quickly distracted.
20:23 he returns to the edge of the nest, somewhat startled.
He calls and hurries back into the forest at 20:24.

10th of April

Short visit from 21:36 to 21:40

A sweeping Bubo landing right in the nest. :)

Image

Again, he wastes no time and loosens the hollow, shakes it again and ...

... yes, sort the sticks again. :rotf:

Image

Oh Bubo, it would be so nice if there was a Mrs. Bubo who would appreciate your nesting order. :2thumbsup:

*Look in the corner ...
Image

Shortly afterwards Bubo finishes his work and prefers to call out over the nesting edge. No, there is nothing to do here. Departure again 21:40.

No more calls.

Hellem, thanks! :2thumbsup:

April 13th

The last night was very calm. No calls from Bubo either ... until now.

Evening visit from 20:57 to 21:02

Bubo lands 20:57 on the edge of the nest and remains there for the time being.
He calls into the nest... looks around him...to the camera.

Image

A frustrated bubo.

At 20:59 he jumps into the nest.

Image

A little bit listless nest care, a short call and already 21:00 he stands in front of the nest edge again and tries to call his luck outside into the forest.
Bubo listens, calls and his posture is on the move.

Image

In fact Bubo would rather hunt than call a female. 8-)
21:02 Rocket launch back into the forest.

No more calls.

A restful and healthy night to you all! :)

April 14th

Visit from 05:06 to 05:07

Bubo's calls can be heard from 05:03 from a great distance. They are approaching.
Bubo lands with his prey on the edge of the nest.

Image

He stays there, calls and shouts into the camera.
:)
Image

Image

Bubo keeps looking around and soon he hears something (apparently). Bubo abruptly turns back into the forest with his prey.

He continues to call but his calls go away quickly. Still to be heard until 05:11.
