The nest of Eurasian eagle-owl is located in Latvia in Kurzeme region. The nesting area is known since 1998, when the natural nesting place was found on the ground. After several unsuccessful nesting cases on the ground, the artificial nest was build in spruce, about 10 m in height. Since 2013 the nesting is successful. The nest is so big, that a grown man might curl in it!
Right now the Eurasian eagle-owl female has laid two eggs, the male is nearby and guards the nest all day.

I am curious whether the cam will have night view .... so that one can follow their doings during the night, as they are night active birds :innocent:

Ohhhhh .... wonderful - the cam has night view :headroll:

And no - it was most likely not the male in the next tree :D Would have been very close to the female, usually they prefer a bit more distance.

No constant night view as it seems ...

Short after the female was away at 19:33, the male was on the nest for short time - hard to see because of the difficult light/night view conditions at that time.
I suppose the female was out because he had handed her prey over on a certain place out of cam view.

He was there to admire the eggs :D and *quick-quick* out again, before SHE comes home again

Oh how lucky we are to watch bubos! Big thanks to the Latvians.

Urmas Sellis writes in the front page of Looduskalender that the night view will come at some point in the future.
