In Hungary a female stork died last week and left 3 chicks about 3-5 days old. They were taken to refuge.
The male came back to the empty nest every night since.
Today, a new female joined him. Let's wish them better luck !

How sad is this? The female away, the storklets taken out of the nest ... poor Stork
(Although this was surely the right solution)
When will the governments make the electric cables so safe that no birds die of it? This is a too frequent cause of death of big birds. :-(
Thank you for the link, Abigyl. It is good, that the male perhaps has found a new mate. I wish both all the best!

Beautiful pictures you have posted, Black Swan. The feeding pictures are very interesting. Frog for breakfest!?
Thanks a lot!
The storklets grow so fast.

"Hello all... "
Seems another sunny warm day,
May, 22.
All four seem to laugh, about what?
From early morning, a fish?
It was only to get this one pic.

It seems to me, they love this camera
These parents are so loving, a bit like in the memory of Tiina and Tiiet
Just a pity that the camera is not so perfect,
but the pictures, which she makes for us:

Black swan, gorgeous pictures you have captured today. What lovely storklets!
Thank you so much!
It’s wonderful to see these storklets so well. As you said, the parents are so careful and tenderly with this young. It's a joy to watch them.

I haven’t experiences with Black Storks in such a case. But I know when White Tailed Eagles open their beaks for longer time, they are panting because of high temperatures. It helps to regulate their body temperature.
A look at the weather report for Hungary shows that there are really high temperatures, about 28 – 30 °C. So it’s perhaps likely that the Storks are panting.

I agree, Black swan. I’m often thinking of Tiina and the cosy nest she has built, - in vain. And I’m also thinking of Tiit, from whom we don’t know, what has happened to him. Let us hope, they are also well.

Black swan, thank you for the lovely pics! I wasn't lucky with photos the last days.
All the storklets look fine and very well fed. They have wonderful caring parents.

Hello all together!
Hello
black swan The sleeping young storks are always so cute when they are lying on their side!
I had the same idea with the wings
.
But I have a question for long time:
what do you all think about their eyes? I keep being worried about them.
Most of the time they look as if they were blind!
Don't you have the same impression???
(The eyes of Tiit and Tiina's childs used to be completely different)
