Re: White-Tailed Sea Eagles 2012-2013
15:18 Linda climbed on a branch on the right
... and then out of view. later there was a rustle but did she take off or just shake her wings? .. yes! she did. she is staying on the branch. her tail can be seen.
15:19 Sulev started homework again.
15:23 Linda took off.

here's a clip of the 14:35-Pontu picture. Linda's code should be H407 i my memory does not fail me. i don't think i can see it here, but i can see the notch on the upper rim of the ring. we noticed it two years ago. (my guess is that Linda has tried to gnaw the ring sometimes to get rid of it. )

to me it has seemed that Sulev does more than Linda who is more like a supervisor in this effort.Manu wrote:Is this usual that male spend more time for "nestoration" than female?
-other bird species may be quite opposite, like in passerines for example.

It seems Sulev is a good/better house-keeper .

Manu: seeing exciting things is something!

and this is just the beginning!
(if everything goes well... )
Sulev is just sitting there and looking and listening.... i suppose it is important for him to make sure that there is safe and calm and nothing improper going on in the forest around the nest. so he just sits and looks and listens patiently and attentively...
16:56 he left. he stayed here for 27 minutes.
i'll just gives links to the videos:

Sulev looks proud & self content beeing in charge of the nest until his brave mate flews in.
I couldn't get her yet...but it will work soon.

I hope we can soon get pics of their tail markings, in case they have changed much.

that's right, Jo. i was just thinking about that, too. so if anyone captures pictures of their tails please post them even though the picture otherwise wouldn't seem to be "pretty" or nice. tailmarks carry important information.
it's getting dark now at 17:51 and the camera will shut down any minute now. i heard some mallard's voices after 5 pm, and actually i heard it again! there must be some open water near-by where mallards can feed.
again a braa- braa- braa- braaa... with lowering pitch. i think mallards have a sort of an evening flight from their foraging grounds to a place where they spend their night. they call on their way...
17:56 the camera shut down.
