Feb 14

a lot of snow has melted away. the twigs and sticks seem to be in the same order as yesterday. it seems that far no-one has visited the nest yet today. i've heard an airplane flying over a little before 10 am and just a few minutes ago another flew over. they are rather loud but sound like small planes so i think they must fly rather low. -i heard mallards again in the morning.

edit: i almost forgot: a woodpecker was calling near the nest at 9:51-

i'm hearing the whistles of the pygmy owl again in the middle of the almost complete darkness.
ooops! camera turned off at 17:55.

there have also been voices of mallards during the day, especially in the morning and now in the late afternoon. i made a recording of it.

there were no visitors at the nest today, as far as i could see.

i don't there have been any such chunks recently. there have been skins mainly, and i think that the lungs and other intestines of the elk carcass have been eaten a long time ago.

but the feeding place came to my mind, too. :whistling:

great captures Bea!
and Fireblade, too. :D

it came to my mind that Sulev didn't make a beep while he was there: he didn't even try to call Linda for a snack. it was the same two days ago: they didn't say anything while they were here.
(that's a bit unpolite towards us, coming like that: without a warning... )
