the camera went to sleep at 17:02. before that, as it got darker and darker, mallards began to make more and more calls. i suppose they were going to 'sleep'. also some whooping swans called a little, and i think i keep hearing wigeon's voices, too. traffic noise carries over the forest rather loudly as there wasn't any wind and the tree have dropped their leaves. right in the end there's a sound of a siren of an ambulance or police car.

good night! :wave:

i have received some news via e-mail about the eagles' winter feeding camera from Urmas Sellis today. i'm so sorry to tell that they are not good news:
Urmas wrote:For eagles feeder cam we did not find suitable place, even searched in Latvia.
Difficult is to find the place with all needed attributes:
electric grid (220V);
peaceful area further of villages;
visible broadband internet fitted tower;
food (wild animals) from nearby;
somebody who is ready to supply the food;
outside of protected areas.
so if miracles will not happen in immediate future we shall not enjoy eagles' winter camera at least this winter. :faint:

what a dissappointment! :cry:

thank you Urmas and others for trying to find a new place. i know you tired your best. :wave:

:cry: Oh, what sorry to hear. But what can not, can not. Thank you for your efforts, Urmas and others to a good place to look for :bow: .

Good evening, ame,
thanks, that you share so quickly the bad :cry: news with us.

@ Urmas and his team: thank you for your efforts, to find a new "eagles winter feeding place 2013/14".
You must take many criterias into account, I have read.

For all it is sad: :cry:
for the members of "Kotkaklubi"
for the members and guests of LK-Forum
special for ame, Mutikluti, Renno and...

I look forward to the season 2014/15. :shake:

Thanks to all (Urmas, Renno, Mutikluti and the rest of the team) for the hard work done to find a location for the winter cam.

We are all sad, but it is better to not have a cam than to have a cam in a place where it would not be safe and secure for the eagles.

My best to all,

Diane

Forgot to write one more aspect we need to pay attention - no dangerous electric poles should be around feeder. Eagles look for perch bases and could get electrocuted.

15:09 The calling of an eagle could be heard not far from the nest. :rolleyes:

At 15:46 the eagle was calling again, but I was late to start recording. :blush: His sound was becaming quieter, so maybe he already flew away. :puzzled:

(Jo, I have already signed that petition on the 2nd Oct., and I advise my friends to sign it. Thanks!). :nod:
