Hi
the correct term used in scientific language for true seals in English is "houl-out". Rookery is more relevant to sea lions and other eared seals.
Welcome Ivar to LKF!

Hello leanne and others who worried about not getting cam-picture -
as there is written in introduction - Looduskalender told us that this is so called beta version and there will be disjunctions ib broadcast.
Let us just be patient.
Another thing - this camera has reasearhing purposes, mainly.
So for us - LKF members- it's sort of 'bonus' that we have possibility to observe this wonderful sight.
Surely there is going to be nice co-operation between us and seal-researcers
Kuremari already explained about camera angle and view - more water on screen would be great - but technically too demanding.
yes of course, i had not in mind at all to squeak/quetch.. sorry if it seemed so i am so thankful already for the moments i have seen/heard them :) and now i look and listen them again.
yes leanne it's great cam isn't it?
I keep the sound on all the time my PC is open - i just love those voices! Not only seals, but waves and seagulls either!

I first time look this camera and this is something new to see the seals like this, seals are not ordinary animals whom you can meet. This is great opporturnity to learn something from their lives.
13:02, There is a female with a pup to the top, right and a dark bull to the top left. Hard to recognize on the picture - live you can see their motion.

Hi to all out there
as i have control over the camera, i'll try to show you some behavioural action on screen. Snowing and some wet stuff on lens. Keep eye on upper right corner.
i.

Hi Ivar,
Thank you for your comment. I mentioned on p. 1
another word you may hear is "haul-out" - this is when the seals come up on land or rocks to sun themselves or to rest.
Every rookery is a haul-out, but not every haul-out is a rookery
so, I am curious, is "haul-out" the literal translation of the Estonian word lesila ?
Hello Ivar,
great that we (LKF) have this great oportunity to 'talk' with you! - i mean now we have 'our man in Havana':)
(i believe it was Kuremari's expression about another cam, another specialist...black storks maybe.)
Anyway. Seal-cam isn't in Havana of course:) so could you please tell us how strong the winds can be at cam's place?
