well I think it is possible if you use your imagination, you might be able to see them

(I thought I could hear them when they were flying)

I think maybe the white spots in about the middle of the captures can be seen to be in different locations in the two captures.

Yes, I see them.
And indeed, the wings was good to hear

I'm wondering, is this area already completely frozen, or still floating ice. :puzzled:

I seem to remember that last year JO had put a link, about this

There is a line out there and I have been thinking that I can see the wind picking up moisture/fog ice as it blows over that area. So I have been thinking there is some water out there that is not yet frozen.

Remember last year the ice was blown first one way then another -- so sometimes this area was all covered in ice and sometimes it seemed to be open water? This year seems so different.

(At least in American English we have no saying about years not being brothers -- we think the weather should be the same one year to the next.)

Now I can definitely see some movement in the water -- so parts of it are not frozen.

good morning! :hi:
i've recoded two short clips of the sea, just for the beauty of it. the first one starts at 9.36. it seems to me that there was some open water rather far from the shore, because when i looked really carefully it seemed as if the water were steaming: there had to be open water from which a haze of water vapour was blown.

about half an hour later the open part had moved closer to the shore and maybe it has become wider, too.
starting at 10.07:

there are even two birds in the latter clip.

It was very different last year.

Ame that is what I was seeing and I thought maybe that the areas of open water formed a sort of sideways > (with a more organic curve to the edges). Now it just seems that there is a band of more or less open water rather near the beach.

I think perhaps I should :offtobed:

the open water is still a bit too far from the shoreline for the water birds to feed... it must be rather shallow there right in front of the waterline where the lumps of ice are now lying, stuck in the bottom i think. it's exactly those parts which were uncovered when water was very low some time ago. there it is shallow enough for the swans and ducks to find food from. so if the wind does not wipe that ice soup away just a little bit i think there'll be no food for swans here yet... lets keep our fingers crossed and thumbs up! :2thumbsup:

i'll have to do some other things now, but maybe i'll keep the other eye on here. it's so beautiful today.... so long!
