Kaia in the nest alone is progress. She was already lying down in the nest... Maybe she's going to lay an egg...
Did you notice how beautifully she appeared in the nest today?
She flew around the nest, examined and mastered the branch in front of the nest, and very gracefully entered the nest... zateynitsa!

My thoughts: We proceed from the data that last year Kaye turned 2 full years - in the spring of 2020 she turned 3 (in 2020, she became very young, not ready for family life, but sexually mature). So in this 2021 year, she turned 3 years old-the fourth. She is completely physiologically ready to become a mother, just no experience. But Charles II had no such experience when he became a father with an experienced mother, Katya... so we have hope for the chicks this year.

See how it is for the first time, for so long, is in the nest and all alone! I am very happy about this.

Karl II stands up.

Isn't that getting brown again? Or are the belly feathers getting less? Similar area incubationis I mean.
Image

area incubationis: "In almost all birds, the development of the brood spot is controlled hormonally by the end of the egg-laying in the bird..." https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brutfleck
If area incubationis forms in Kaia, it is signs of egg.

The stork's girlfriend was left alone in the nest. This is not typical of her at all. She's young. She's just getting used to the nest. And so, after the flight, she did not fly away, she stayed and was in the nest for 1.5 hours. She was waiting for stork-Karl2. He flew around the nest, looking to see who was in it. The stork's girlfriend happily greets him. The stork is also delighted.

14.54 She is on the branch. The stork lay down. She immediately descends from the branch. As soon as the stork rises, She immediately goes to the branch...

15: 04 the stork's girlfriend flew off the branch to the right.
15: 05 the stork flies to the left.
It's kind of dark in the woods... apparently, it has become very cold.

16:34 it's raining!
It was already quite dry. I don't even know when it last rained in Karula National Park. I'm happy!

17:51:30 Karl II comes and sings.

He's dripping.

Swenja, Tatjana, thank you for reports and wonderful photos!

I share the same thoughts with you!
And I also think that today Kaia's belly was browner, she was similar to Kaia from last year.
Since he was in the nest so much, it really feels like the egg is coming, it's time!

Weather forecast for Karula, K = Kolmapäev = Wednesday,
light rain showers

17: 51 a wet stork has arrived. Of course, he couldn't leave the nest and just wait for good weather somewhere. He is the owner of the nest and its keeper.

Hello Heloise

Many Thanks for weather report.

The temperatures just drop a little. As long as there is double-digit temperature during the day and no frost at night, it is good.

Of course, everything and always could be better.

I've sent an e-mail to Jo UK and have asked her to inform Kotkaklubi about the camera-stopp. Hopefully help will come soon.

Some pictures from the stream, short before it stopped.

18:33 This was a successful looking mating.

18:36 While Karl II preened himself for quite a while, Kaia made nestaurations. Here she has a little stick in her beak that she keeps putting from one place to another. Looks like she is learning. :)

Thanks everyone for the photos and reports yesterday!
Thanks @Michi!

April 22

Good Morning!

The camera has been off since 18:47:07 yesterday. Maybe only solar energy was used? The camera often cuts out at night.
I do not hope this is a serious mistake.

08: 56 a stork flew into the nest. Very quickly landed on the left.
He sang very little, did not put the nest in order, and stood with his beak buried in his rich collar...
He must be feeling chilly right now.
