:hi: Liz,
you're welcome
(Dr. Strazds "The earliest date when the first egg could be laid (according to what we know so far) is 9 or 10 May." )

finger crossed very, very much, miracles happen here and there (I don't want to see another sad season)

:hi: Florinda,
nice shot :innocent:

- I am not happy - it is very late (Karula nest: Kaia laid the first egg on April 24, approx. 3 weeks ago)
- but as always, we can only watch and accept what happens

That was at a time when the forests weren't yet suffering from drought. What was written years ago is no longer valid today. The conditions have changed adversely

That is so when they show our Spreewald and the birds that live there. No black stork can breed in the Spreewald anymore. They are gone for god. These are films from years ago!

Dr. Strazds "The earliest date when the first egg could be laid (according to what we know so far) is 9 or 10 May."
it was a quote to this year 's situation on the nest in Sigulda - Dr. M.S. had an accurate estimate

Latvia’s forests - comments on the situation, explains Dr. M.S. - https://www.baltictimes.com/news/articles/28529/ (2011-04-21)
and like Urmas wrote very similar situation is in Estonia

Image

Image

15.16 back to egg and to the work with the nest bowl, settled down - incubating
15.18 stand up, egg rolling, aerating and back to incubating

it is very windy, but it seems on warm day

After all - this is Life, let it have a chance :egg: :loveshower:

She (and he) is so cute and the nest is the most beautiful I've ever seen
Image

She is diligent, too

What does this position tell? :puzzled:

:hi: Owlie,

she defends the egg - someone unwanted is near

she observed someone and started with this body posture (outstretched wings)
Image

15.52 still the same posture  (maybe a little less wide)

15.53 male arrived - calling
she was so focused that she didn't notice his arrival (that is he, her mate) - she was startled
Image

Image

- she knocked her beak, which is also a manifestation of defensive
Image

15.55 mating

now she seems to be calm :headroll:
