13:01:00 Kaia comes to the nest and feeding time! There were frogs too.

After feeding, the chicks ask for water.
Kaia takes a close look at the area around the nest.

Kaia regurgitated twice. (And even a third time, but that was one single frog)
Twice a rather small amount of food.
Added up, this may constitute a 'fair' portion.
I think I see a few fish, frogs and tadpoles.

13:22 Our dingy Trio just after being fed by Karl II. :D
#1 - #3 - #2 ?

So, for the fact that there were 2 feedings at once, the crops don't look so full now.
Except, of course, # 1

Wonderful!
Many thanks, Anne7 and Swenja!

The picture of pouring water is very good, thank you!
(I thought about Kaia all morning, but didn't write it 8-) )

I really admire Kaia and Karl II, they are wonderful parents!
:2thumbsup:

The wind outside is almost like that coming from a hair dryer :faint:

15:04:20 One chick on the right side (which of these three chicks? 1? 2? 3?) does a PS in the nest

Image

Another chick tastes it twice :slap:

Image

15:34
This is not a deep sleep. They breathe fast... the weather is too hot.

15:53 There is always someone third who is a little different 8-)

16:06 Fortunately, the nest is no longer in direct sunlight.

Pretty good balance!

Again a chick does a (tiny) PS in the nest bowl ... :puzzled:

I have a feeling that parents do not feed the chicks so much today, it is very difficult to actively move in such weather. :innocent:
I hope for the nice dinner later (maybe in the moonlight 8-) )

The storklets are patient and quiet, waiting... and practice walking.

Heloise

Great pics!

I don't know why the chicks are getting so little to eat today (for now). :puzzled:

Is it because it is not good to eat a lot in such heat?
Is it because the parents have difficulty catching enough food at the moment?
Are the parents themselves suffering from this heat? (Which is unlikely, I think, as BS spend the winter in Africa, where it gets even hotter.)
