Re: Suggest Name for New Female Black Stork 2020
My suggestion is Katie. It is very close to "cutie" as she was very nicely called earlier. And it is also close to Kati.

Here is my second attempt.
I suggest Karamel (or 'Karamell' or 'Caramel')
It is very sweet and it has the colour of her belly. And it is known all over the world.
The English word 'caramel' comes from French 'caramel', borrowed from Spanish 'caramelo', itself possibly from Portuguese 'caramel'. Most likely that comes from Late Latin 'calamellus' (sugar cane), a diminutive of 'calamu' (reed, cane), itself from Greek κάλαμος. Less likely, it comes from a Medieval Latin 'cannamella' (canna = cane + mella = honey). Finally, some dictionaries connect it to the Arabic 'kora-moħalláh' (ball of sweet).
Karl and Karamel in Karula.

I would like to suggest the following names:
- Kaija, Finnish diminutive form of Karoliina, or
- Kaira, Scandinavian short form of Katharina

Hello everyone!
I like Kaia variant most of all. It's short, Estonian, easy to pronounce and starts from "K" (good tradition for Karula storks). For me, it's interesting to see local (traditional) names on Birdmap :)
Kira, Karamel, Karmen are also very nice.
But, please, no Kati, Katie, Kate, Katrin and so on. I loved old Kati, but think that similar name is NOT a good idea (remembering last year events...)

Juta, do you mean "little Princess" is used in forum?
I like very much Katinka. And if it should be some influence from Karl and Kati, then Karlota.
Kaia ir very nice, local origin and easy to write. (kaija is gull in latvian)

Hello!
Thank you all for suggestions.
We have more names than poll enables(15).
I have to make some selection. If some member has posted several names, I take first. I will not post name Katie, it too so similar to Kati and it seems we don´t want that.
Working to prepare poll....

Please do not vote for Kara.
In Estonian, many words have several meanings.
Kara is something that male animals have.
