Hello everyone!
Michi :hi:
Swenja! Thank you!

My contribution: today's weather forecast - Karula, Valgamaa (Valga county)
(there is also Karula, Viljandimaa /Viljandi county)

I cant believe my eyes! Summer warm weather should arrive on May 10! I hope this is not a trick.

It's nice to see that Kaia came to the nest in the morning and Karl II is working hard to make the home better

10:18:36 Karl II wants to take care of the eggs. It looks like Kaia is protesting. She stands up and tells him a lot.
She touches him with her beak. He touches her a few times with his beak.

Image

10:26:50 Karl II rolls the eggs and incubates. Kaia is preening.

10:52:28 Karl II flies to the right. Kaia incubates.

Kaia won.

12:20:21 Karl II comes to the nest. Is Kaia pleased or not? A branch stood up on his arrival.

Image

Kaia doesn't seem happy with the nest edge. She tugged at the branches several times today, especially when Karl II is in the nest.

I think it is a good sign that Kaia is "defending" the eggs and insists on incubating. I have a much better feeling than last year.

I do want ask a question from you guys.
As i've been following this nest many years now and also made contribution to baby storks GPS ... ther's one thing missing.
Why don't we have night camera already installed in this nest?

This is probably the most watched black stork camera but we don't have the upgrade this nest camera should have long time ago.
Rauntz posted this on April 11.
Yesterday, Urmas gave me this information.

Actually, current camera is working and we as sustainable lifestyle practitioners, can't simply throw it away and replace with some new model, because it is technically possible.

From other side, black stork 2 cam was initially planned to show Eagle Owl breeding site, where night vision is more than necessary. But due to problems with late delivery of some parts of camera set, we were not able to go to the Eagles Owl nest site anymore. So not to wait for next year cam on self, we found good nest to watch temporarily it.

But we will see, how easy it will be to remove that camera from Black Stork 2 nest?

Rauntz, sorry you had to wait so long!

14:38 Karl II is incubating and resting. After the rain and cold weather, it's just nice to enjoy the sun.

Image

In the meantime, it's windy. Then you need a scarf around your neck.

Image

The sun shines on Karl II and makes him shine 8-)

14:49 It's time to get up and roll the eggs.

Image

It didn't take long, just one little rubbish had to be put aside. Let's rest again!

Hello all,

I was amazed when one egg after the other lay in the nest.

Even though I don't write very often, I do check in from time to time and look forward to your observations and reports.

Thank you.

19:28 Kaia incubates. Would Karl II want to take over from her again today?

How deep is the hollow of the nest!

20:27 Kaia loosens the nest floor and moves the eggs.
