Edit, 10:10-- Well, well. Look who just showed up. Rearranging all the greenery.

Somewhat earlier, both eagles were in the nest together. Again, they brought the new twigs and improving nest.
Urmas is right, it seems that they are preparing the nest as their own for the next season.

Really very good pictures, Lucy, thank you. The LSEs showed up before I saw them, then. I love the little LSEs best, I think, especially after watching the Latvian pair with Guste & how tenderly they cared for her.

I like LSE best too. My big love is SPOT last years chick. I was watching the family all the time. It will be a long dark winter waiting for nest years LSE-camera. Here a photo of SPOT

NutHatcher visited the cam - started to knock very close to CAM.

I have a problem on my recordings, the sound and video is not in sync....

Oliv, Spot's picture shows a beautiful, fierce & brave bird. I love the direct gaze, as if to say, "I will leave you alone as long as you don't try anything threatening. If you try anything, you'll pay!" Was Spot a male of female?

0hansen, the nuthatch in your video looks very similar to the nuthatches in my part of the USA (Missouri).

Don´t say WAS It IS a female. I am worried aboute her. No one has seen er after migration.

Oh no, I didn't mean it to sound like she is no more, only to inquire if it was learned last year about the eaglet's sex. She is a beautiful bird & must surely be ranging free today.

I worry about Spot too, she totally captivated my heart.

She was hurt late in the season last year -- maybe she flew into a tree and badly bruised a wing/shoulder.
About the time she was found lying on the ground I watched video of some forest eagle flying (I think maybe the camera strapped was on the eagle) and the way the eagle zoomed through trees pulling a wing in just enough to avoid disaster made me realize what an amazing skill this was and how it might be a hard one for an aggressive go getter eaglet to learn.

She was in care for a while and so left for migration late -- which of course makes us worry.

For some reason I fell madly in love with her from the moment I saw her.

Oh, the poor thing, to have her natural life interrupted like that. I'm glad they were able to get to her & take her into rehabilitation, but how will anyone ever know for sure if she made a successful migration? I suppose if no one has reported finding an injured or dead eagle with her ankle-band numbers, that is a good thing?

It seems no activity has taken place at the nest for several days. Yesterday it sounded like chain saws were being used somewhere. It is raining now & quiet in the forest. Have the LSEs started their migration south by now? Or might we still catch sight of them a bit?

While away from the forum, I did peek in once in a while, & I saw this delight on 30 August. I believe it is the first yellow leaf of autumn, at least the first one in this nest.
