Names for Young Black Storks. 2016

It is time to start thinking about suitable names for our young black storks.
As we won't know the gender of these young ones for some time, we should try to think of gender-neutral names (suitable for male or female). Estonian names or words or preferred. This is an Estonian nest for Estonian birds so it is right that the names should honour Estonia.

Please post your suggestions here. At the end of five days - 9th June - I will list all the suitable names, and then we can vote. Remember that we need TWO names. The two names having the highest number of votes will be chosen. If anyone has a bright idea about how to decide which storklet takes which name, please enlighten us. I just don't know!
Shall we continue the K custom for this nest? Or something different?

Please post your ideas here.

If you want to name the deceased small chick, can you put that name suggestion in a separate post, please. Otherwise, all the names will be come mixed and it may be difficult to work out which name is intended for the deceased one.

Jo said we could continue with K-custom for Karula nest so my suggestion is to name the two storklets

Kulla and Kalli (from Karula). :D

These names are a bit tricky to translate from Estonian to English but:
both mean something like 'dear, precious, treasured'.
Kulla can be also connected with a word 'gold' (kuld) and Kalli with a word 'hug' (kallistus).
Both are gender neutral, at least to my knowledge.

Well this is not a serious suggestion actually :D

but the words Kaks and Kolm just came to my head, because of the letter K:
kaks is number two in Estonian, and kolm is number three.

But like I said - do not take that suggestion seriously.

Kaks and Kolm/Johanna already exist, they are the kids of Tiit and Tiina in 2011.

Alessa,(poor child, all she wanted was love and empathy, but she didn't get it) Dhalia(she couldn't defend Alessa and lost her) and Christopher.

I like it.... Good names for the remaining storklets... :loveshower: but Riina is female name and Rein-name for boy. Do we know the gender of children?...It will be funny if we`ll give the name of the girl to the the boy ..... :slap:

No, we don't know! That is why we ask for gender-neutral words/names.

It seems that there are names which have been used in the past, so I wonder how much that matters?
Clearly, we don't want to use names given to black storks in earlier years, but does it matter if a name, previously given to an eagle, a buzzard, a crane should be used for a black stork?
If we carry on, year after year, saying "No, we can't use that name because it was given to another species x years ago - we are going to be very restricted.
What do members think about this?
