18:20 - Usin.
He landed on his siblings several times :-)
LIZ, your 18:13 picture is lovely Great to see Tali safely back in the nest, and Kati is still here too.

Lussi, that is funny Usin jumps on Tali and Uno. For a long time they say nothing. Then they protest

I believe Usin did it on purpose, he/she just continued stepping on them, again and again!Liz01 wrote:Lussi, that is funny Usin jumps on Tali and Uno. For a long time they say nothing. Then they protest
And when they finally protested, he/she escaped on the curved branch.
A little jealous, maybe? His 2 siblings seem to be so close.

There is an article on the front page of Looduskalender about Tali's falling from the nest yesterday and one sentence from this reads:
As the storklet fell from the nest with open wings there can't be any physical injuries and we expect him back on the nest today.

I have noticed too that Tali and Uno are closer than Usin with the others.Anne7 wrote:A little jealous, maybe? His 2 siblings seem to be so close.

Yes, AAnne, it looks so.AAnne wrote:I have noticed too that Tali and Uno are closer than Usin with the others.
Uno seemed very worried when Tali fell out the nest.
But on 2 occasions he was very unfriendly to Usin.
And aggressive snapping at a sibling is very unusual for storklets...
I don't have an explanation for this behavior.
Do storklets are more friendly to the opposite gender?
(Could it be that Uno is a male and Tali a female? And Usin a male?)
Or do they prefer the company of the same gender, at this age?
All this is only guessing, so probably nonsense.
Maybe someone else knows?

I only observed: first and second storklet are closely, also in Gemenc nest - 2+1 often (not only in this nest and not only BS) ... the 2 are often one day (in 24h) hatched

Yes, probably this is a good explanation!
3 is often a 'difficult' number. It quickly becomes 2 + 1
(In human kids it's often the same.)

We were told and warned about heavy thunderstorm and rain. It seems that thunderstorm goes over Latvia and on the way to Russia. Estonia be saved.
