Names for Young Black Storks 2017

Post by Jo UK »

Please post here suggestions of names for our young Black Storks. This will keep the main topic free for its usual purpose, and will help us to find everyone's suggestions. After a few days we can vote on which three names we shall choose.

Keep in mind that these are Estonian storks, in Estonia. That the letters U. T. and another U are registered on their ring numbers. So Estonian names will be favoured but in case the two letters on the rings is too restrictive then maybe we should also consider some more international names.
So, be inspired and post here, please. Let's see what emerges :D

Udu (meaning fog, mist, cloud)
this would not be gender related. we don't yet know which they are.

I was also thinking of something weather-related and Udu was on my list too. I'm not able to think of a third name though :slap:

My suggestions would be:

Udu
Tuul (wind)

Lea T welcome! :gathering:
i think i have seen you in the Tube chat. :D

Tormi was one Lesser Spotted eaglet's name some time in the past...

Tuul was another name which was in my mind.
can Uljas be both a girl's and a boy's name?

Uni is nice, it's short.
Udu, Tuul, Uni?

Now, we have a good selection of names which are suitable for male, female or gender-neutral. What shall we do with them, as we don't yet know which of our storklets is/are male or female?

We can -
Give them names, regardless of gender.
Wait until DNA results are known.

??????????????

What are your opinions, please?

For me, both solutions are fine, Jo UK.
But we have very much different name suggestions now in this topic!
The advantage of choosing names from a gender-neutral list, would be that the choice would be a little more restricted. And thus the voting easier. It probably would also give a clearer result.

Hi everyone, I like the idea gender neutral names and not to wait for results (especially when Urmas wrote that it will take some time to know it). And I would prefer not human names but some nice estonian words connected somehow with this nest or nature (e.g. as ame or mail wrote).
