yes, it's not unusual losing weight by raising up the offspring.
on the other side, if this is the reason, that should have been already oberserved more often.
i don't know, how often that happens - do you know ?
Liz wrote:Karl II takes a pellet from the nest ground and tries to eat it? That seems an animation for him? at least he pretends to eat it. But you also see that it does not really want to do it.
for me it looks like a displacement activity.
they are stressed.

I'm sorry, I do not understand the question. Can you put it another way? What does it refer to? to lose weight or poke in the nest?

OK, I see it now

I see it the first time. With the really endless feedings I've seen, this is the first time. It is very unusual for me.

I'm sorry for them all.It costs everyone a lot of strength. I do not understand why he makes no distance to the nest.

9:36 Karl II is standing on one leg.
9:38 I see that he wants to leave, but he can not and tries once more

The kids got tired of begging and only nod. Strange, why doesn't Karl II leave?

Liz, i meant, if there exists something like a blockade to regurgitate, if the own body needs the food for its own, there should have been already more situations given to observe it, because it is quite usual, that the adults loose weight. the older the youngsters the more weight loss at (preposition?) the adults, the more it happens and should be observed.
*just a thought

Hi, everybody. I saw what was written here earlier about why Karl takes so long to regurgitate food. Seeing how long Karl burps today, and then seeing the fish, it all became clear. Perch is a fish with prickly fins and a dorsal crest.
While Karl a little bit can not digest, it would be a pain to burp the fish. And since storks arrive immediately after a sufficient catch to the Chicks for feeding, then this is all the complexity.
Smile, you're being filmed by a hidden camera!

i've lost the screenshot of the thick thing in the throat.

(just a thought: if i would swallow a mouse, the coat is dry and perhaps has first to become saturated with saliva and water until it can smoothly regurgitated)

yes Poliff, probably that :)
*haven't seen which fishes came out but that's another possibility

That's why he tried to eat something - to soothe the pain, poor Karl II.
