Hello raven! This was probably not funny for you back then, but picturing this situation made me laugh nowraven wrote: ↑June 12th, 2019, 8:55 pmI admit my hands were trembling, I was telling the animal inside "OK, OK, I am sorry, I leave, calm down!" Normally blue tits nest in this box. This crazy sound I remember as "mrrmpf - ta ! mrrmpf - ta ! mrrrmpf -ta!" totally different from every sound I ever heard of a black or blue tit.

Raven, we observers "know" this Black Stork meanwhile. We call him OFAF, this is his ring number. He is born in Latvia, ringed as a chick in Juli 2016, - so he's now in his 4th calendar year.

Still no stream, so this is for entertainment
Raven, your question about sounds made by defensive birds - I read it just about 2 minutes prior to a TV programme about Monster Fish. It says that the Goliath Grouper is known to make "rumbling, grumbling sounds" when it is being defensive.
So, no help at all in answering your question, but you are very welcome to the forum.

I enjoyed the video of our storklets reacting to the unknown male stork missing a step (and possibly being dazed or hurt).
They have always made me laugh because they are so comical in behavior and appearance. I hope this doesn't sound negative about our storklets because that's not intended. I feel like I'm watching "The Three Stooges" in a way, an old American comedy trio who bumble about and do funny things. The storklets have unusual-looking behaviors to me, as when a parent arrives and how they interact as siblings. I just enjoy them as if they were comedians. I am very serious though about their survival and appreciate Karl II especially in his attentive behaviors.
Many animals/birds have unusual-looking young and I think "The face only a mother/father could love." this is how I think about our little storks until they grow out of their fluffy baby feathers.
The stream is probably back on but I thought I might as well write a post since I liked the idea of entertainment while the cam is offline.

Good Morning all
The camera is still offline.
There is a another cam with infrared. 00:47 there is a thunderstorm. These storklets are not afraid of the thunder.
It looks like the rain is very welcome, which I can understand. In Poland was the same great heat as here in Berlin.

EDIT: 9:37 Thunderstorm in Estonia (I saw it on the nest of Magnus and Maia)

Thanks Michi ! So this juvenile OFAF ist just watching, just interested ( the young storklets don't know that he just wants to be a friendly uncle). I learned something new !
Yes, thanks, pretty interesting !! So a bit off topic during stream is offline, I just can add: I also heard that women if aggressed should not scream high pitched, they should rumble deep and growl. High pitched screams just would enhance male aggression still more, the deep rumble they wouldn't expect of a woman. Sorry, no link, I heard this decades ago.Jo UK wrote: ↑June 13th, 2019, 12:54 am Still no stream, so this is for entertainment

Ravenraven wrote: ↑June 12th, 2019, 6:59 pm Then I remembered this: When I was trying to find out whether a bird box in our garden was occupied I was lightly knocking on it, and I heard a hissing and growling so loud that I thought a pretty angry mammal was just upon to get me.
Are there some bird specialists who could help me in this case ? Can birds growl like that when they are afraid as a kind of defense making them more dangerous as they really are ?
2016 the great tit was bird of the year in Estiona and we also could see and hear the noises of denfending the nest per webcam.
Here is an article about the noises

@Shanta: Thanks a lot for you hint !
Just found a hissing sound of a blue tit beginning from 1.30 min, maybe I was in error decribing this hissing sound phonetically, as it happened more than 10 years ago. I just thought this day knocking on the birds box, that an angry mammal, a weasel, something having sharp teeth was about to get me ...and it really could be this blue tit hissing - sound.
Is there a bigger problem with the stream ?

The famous Estonian trio 'The Karula Chicks' presents a song called the Attack.

Great, thanks!
And the sad assumption that the camera will not work until they will ring our kids, at worst a month. But let's hope for the best and that i was wrong.

Raija - that is a wonderful song, which I recognise from "back then" One can almost hear the words, growls, gargles and complaints.raija wrote: ↑June 13th, 2019, 10:28 pm The famous Estonian trio 'The Karula Chicks' presents a song called the Attack.

Raija - your creativity is marvellous - the chicks sound so distinct in their "attack" voices. Thank you. I will definitely try to download and make it my ring (I only have landline, no cell)!

Big wings are flapping in the beginning ... The music in the background fits so well ... it's awesome.
Are these really our storklets? I haven't known that they can growl so loudly.
Thank you, thank you!

Good Morning Katerina
I think the ringing will be sooner. They do not get any transmitter this year. That is, we do not have to wait until the adult weight is reached.I think they get rings when the weather is good enough for Urmas, to climb a tall tree.
In 2015 on the Latvian nest it was on June 12.
