Yesterday we had a chance to look over technical situation with this camera. Fortunately, no bigger problems appeared, but transmission antenna in forest changed its angle by the storm. Probably antenna was hit several times by the branch of the same tree. That branch was removed, antenna turned into right position and you already were able to see stream online.
We did not go to the nest tree, not to speak about nest. Therefore slight turn of the cam view is a co-incident, we did not have any efforts to turn it back into right position.

visit :hi:

They do not growl with other storks. Only with birds of prey and humans. Both are a big threat to them.
Therefore, it is easy to see what kind of "disturbance" it is.

It's hard to find a good picture

Liz, :hi: Maybe you've mixed up something? They growl with other storks. We have seen it lastly on OFAFs visit on June 1st. See your video below.

They have rested. At first they did not know who was there and started with it. Once they realize what it is, they behave according to the type of threat.

EDIT: Michi, I think you're right in this case
I saw the video. They growl a lot. No idea why it is so. Normally, they behave differently with storks. I see it every day in the Polish nest. There is always a strange stork visitor. It's a different kind of vocalization. This is also what I have seen on other nests .. whether Latvian or Polish or Hungarian. They usually do not growl at storks. But I can not describe the sounds they make.

First they beg, because they think it's a parent.
Then they start to nod their heads and make strange sounds

Liz, thanks for your answer. I really don't know how storklets behave normally when there's another Black Stork near nest. Wasn't last year often another stork here at this nest? :puzzled: It would be laborious, though, to search for it.

Is there any video of the Polish nest and the visitor?
I don't want to look in the forum because I'm afraid to see suffering storklets in Gemenc.

Liz, thanks a lot for the sound recording and the video. :2thumbsup:
What a situation! The adult BS is singing a bit and the storklets make alarm sounds. :D
Liz, the storklets in the video call the whole time "attack"! It's the same sound they make when Urmas climbs up to the nest.
Certainly the tones in the nests sound different depending on the age of the storklets.

A question now is whether the attack calls and the growling have a different meaning. I‘m quite sure that with greater danger, they are rather growling.
A thought: The growling is probably exhausting. It is therefore possible that the storks will switch to attack calls after some time.
But that would have to be checked out.

BTW: What a beautiful nest! I haven't known it.

The nest is with infrared camera. A old oak... looks like for me like the nest of Ozols and Zile. I like it.
it is only since 12.06.2019!

Oh, what a pity that it wasn't online earlier. The nest and the view are really wonderful.
And, yes, it reminds a little bit on Ozols and Ziles nest. :D

Here is the link of the Polish nest, - if someone is interested:

Thanks for the feeding pictures and especially the last one! Our storklets look so nice when they sit in a row. :D
