Oliv, thanks to YOU for the wildlife/eagles film, which is wonderful. I had been thinking it was from Liis as well, by the time I got to end of my (too long, and 30 min interrupted) paragraph.

here is a video from when Spot was ringed last year by Joosep Tuvi from Eagle Club.
And here is an article about it, and at the end, a link to a translation of what Joosep says when he is ringing Spot (he did it very gently and skilfully!)

AND ...

if you look at the first post in this very thread : viewtopic.php?p=67142#p67142

you will find my favorite picture of Spot still in the nest. There are also links in that post to the articles on Looduskalender about Lesser Spotted Eagles.

Great memories there.. happier days when the LSE were nesting and some beautiful pics taken of Spot's lovely lacey feathers.
Not so kind memories of the Cainism episode though,I hated that part.
Well, I suppose we won't see any of that this season after all. :banghead:

Jo UK wrote:Is it because there is not enough food this year? Fewer frogs? Or maybe they have a "rest year" for some reason?
Rather a rest year, cause this year must be more frogs than a year ago.

Yeah, here's an article about it - http://www.looduskalender.ee/en/node/7500

Fingers crossed for Latvian LSEs.

Urmas has answered me at the link "Experts answers". Spot is a girl! I have told it before :shake:

I was one who thought Spot was probably a male -- because of looks and because she was so aggressive with her father. I could not remember who knew she was a girl.

Yesterday we with Joosep removed camera system from LSE nest.
The signal was almost missing from July already, but we noticed that just before leaving for migration there was brought some twigs of spruce to the nest (to show - the flat is occupied).

The reason for missing signal is couple of spruce trees, being grown just to cut direct visibility between two aerial antennas. So in spring we need to trim these trees and probably get back the stream.
There was no damages of August hurricane, only one rotten birch drunk was fallen on cable near the nest, but not hardly and the cable was still fine.

The plan is to install again the system at spring.
And probably the other LSE webcam will be at Black Stork nest...

It will be a BS/LSE cam if any storks come up earlier than those eagles.
