A nice evening to you Jopie
Everytime I have visited Tormi today, he has been sitting on the branch. And now it is, as you say Jopie, raining.
- earlier today, before the rain..Tormi was looking around and preening..on the branch of course
by looking at pictures and comments I see that he has been doing other things today..

Hope Tormi hops back into the nest before the branch is getting to slippery for him!
I have recorded the birds, I think it was jays fighting, from the sound of them!

It's getting dark, almost too dark to see anything. It's still raining, Tormi sits on his branch and no Tuuli!

Do you think Tormi is just lounging on a branch?bociany wrote:Sunday August 6
5 AM empty nest!
5:33 I just heard him calling and I saw wing feathers and I think I heard landing on the nest.
Yes there was a delivery while I was typing.

I also thought she looked like a skunk!
I checked the Pontu cam, and the first picture available for today was http://pontu.eenet.ee/tooni/2011-08-07/ ... -04-52.jpg and the nest was empty.
at 5:21, a little head appeared on the left http://pontu.eenet.ee/tooni/2011-08-07/ ... -05-21.jpg
and then in the next couple of minutes, there were feathers visible in that same spot on the left - Tormi herself appeared at 5:34 AM!

The picture with just the head is cute. And from the Pontu pictures you can see the vole was there earlier, so Tormi must have just woken up and decided he was hungry.

Do you think Tormi is a "he" ? Every time I see her face looking straight into the camera, I think she looks just like her mother
In this cropped picture from Pontu - she looks a like a punk rocker

Hi, I wasn't able to log on until now, so I missed the early morning events. Tormi still sits on the branch in the rain. I hear jays quarreling in the background.

A tiny bit of sunshine peeked through the clouds for a moment, & Tormi is jumping into & out of the nest once in a while. S/he considered once going up onto the tall branch, but then did not do so. Looks like s/he is also considering jumping onto the short dark branch that Tuuli sat on when she began encouragement to go onto the branches.

Earlier I thought Tormi was getting restless but now he seems content -- sohe may sit on that branch for the better part of another day.
I am going to miss another evening/morning. I am falling asleep and I get to go to the coast for a birthday (my fathers) birdwatching (or just wave watching) get away.

Goodnight, then, Alice. Get some rest so you can enjoy the day tomorrow. It sounds like fun! I think Tormi is mostly content to sit on the branch with a little flying practice now & then, at least so far today.
Edit, 8:40-- It looks like Tormi has actually tucked head into wing to take a little nap for now. Still sitting on the branch.

Remo brought a vole. Wait, might be Tuuli-- I can't tell. Tormi grabbed it & it went under the clump of aspen leaves, so I don't think s/he realizes where it is! No, it was definitely Tuuli, she flew away then returned with a twig. Tormi tried to get under her, but she moved. Now Tormi is talking to her & play-hunting on the clump of aspen leaves. AND still trying to get her to let baby under her belly. I think Tormi must have gobbled the vole as ehn s/he moved the leaves, no vole was there.

Tormi flew-hopped around a bit, then went to the left branch out of sight except for the occasional peek at a beak or wing.
Edit, 9:19-- And now into & out of the nest for exercise for a while.
Edit, 9:22-- And now up the tall branch.
Up the branch.
Down again & thinking, "Up again?"
