It's now 7:00 p.m. in California and I just left the nest cam. Daylight is coming soon and I know the nest is empty, still I go there, hearing the sounds and so wishing things were different. Love you Stephi xoxoxoxoxox

Oh silly me. I thought the parents had different names than that.
Thank you!

It's a Latvian LSE couple we had been watching for three years. Here are the topics about them.Chimega wrote: Oh silly me. I thought the parents had different names than that.

Last year their little chick(without the name yet) was stolen by some night raptor. Even worse than Stephi. Amazing that Grieta didn't defend it but just flew away. That must be the reason they left the nest this year and made a new one and there is high probability that Tuuli and Remo (or Mr Blond) may do the same.

Oh gosh, if Tuuli and Remo make a nest somewhere else, we may not see it, right? Cause the cam will be in the wrong place?asteria wrote:

I am very surprised that Grieta didn't defend her eaglet. That just doesn't seem right.

Are there any facts about the predator last year or that Grieta didn´t defend her chick? Pictures etc.? (Sorry, I´m too lazy to go through the whole topic ) Could anybody have seen this if it was night.Chimega wrote: Oh gosh, if Tuuli and Remo make a nest somewhere else, we may not see it, right? It can be hard to understand if the parents don´t defend their babies. They can often choose to save themselves. Because they have a better change to survive and still product new offspring. The chicks can have very limited changes anyway...

I think to remember that Urmas(?) or Joosep(?), so someone who knows it told us that they can´t defend in the night because they do not see in darkness. No chance against a night raptor like owls who are made for night hunting.

I am almost sure, that the team there will move the cam when they see Tuuli and Remo build a nest somewhere else, but i dont know if that would disturb them, so the parents maybe would abandon and move on.

Thank you for this beautiful compilation and the beautiful music. I have to see it once more because I had to cry.
Will you be so kind to let me know what orchestra this is and the title?
The music is a compilation of a few opuses but the main theme is taken from “Nimrod” by Edward Elgar – not by accident, because the piece tells about the life of a bird from his parents’ courtship and building the nest, through incubating, hatching, growing up, youth, getting to know the world, meeting his partner and setting up his own home.
It is happening on the edge of Amazonian jungle.
One day, when the chicks are already growing up, he comes back home with a pray and finds out the tree, they have built the nest, fallen down, the nest destroyed and his family dead because of the deforesting by humans. He flies over the jungle for a few hours remembering the most beautiful moments of his short life and… puts himself to death crashing of rocks…
It’s a very sad story, but a beautiful music and I invite you to listen all the concert, if you would have the possibility. Listening classical music is wonderful when we know the story and the genesis of the coming into being the opus :)

It is not very far to look for, it is all on the last page of last year's Latvian cam thread, including the statement by Dr. Bergmanis about it.

Whom will now hug
Before falling asleep Mom Tuuli?
Who will Dad give a mole to?
You are not at home…
You have flown away so early…
It’s so painful, but it’s silently…
To whom will I say “good night” this evening?
Whom will I greet tomorrow morning?
Goodbye beautiful eagle, fly to the skies,
Over the rivers, mountains, forests and seas…
Be carried everywhere by lightness
On the wings of our love and memories…
