Loch Garten, Scottland UK

Yesterday, late evening, after 4 'hungry' days, EJ finally got a nice whole fish :shake:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ifd4EzgvwUo

Last days she had only small fish tails, once a day
On Fri, May 4 - a tail:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GxPGnbQWYgc

On Thu, May 3 - a tail:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T1IMWwR5gDs

On Wed, May 2 - a tail of yesterday's nice fish:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vcDjI5cm9uQ&t=175s

On Tue, May 1 - nice headless fish:

Poor, poor Girlie. For EJ as 21 y.o., it may be the last season of breeding
It is so sad and heartbreaking to see her waiting and waiting, and calling for a fish, and no relief from incubation duties.

Junior was named George, shortly GJ.
He is very young, tries to do the best but has still to learn how to be a master, bringing in fish more regularly and take a part in incubating. Quickly learn, time of hatching is coming.

Loch Garten

My poor old girl.
I could only cry.
She's been starving so much in the last year and now she's starving again.

Aberfoyle, Scotland: One or two? Who knows:

Clarach must have hidden their two eggs deep in the bowl,
but there might be only one left / visible > they say on RSPB-Blog page 36

Aberfoyle, Scotland

:hi: Ferenz,

Yesterday afternoon, a crow took the second egg from Clarach.
I don't know if she has an egg anymore.
Maybe today you can see if there's an egg left.

Bawat, your concerns have come true:

At least the crows won that battle!

I had read it yesterday in the forum, but since yesterday the cam is no longer working for me. One user said there were 3 eggs in the nest and I had the hope there is another egg.
What is this year, one disaster after another.

Loch Garten, Scotland

EJ had disappeared yesterday for over an hour and everyone hoped to see her with a fish, but she came back dry and without fish.

And then all of a sudden this happens today.

EJ was out for 2.5 hours and must have eaten all the fish or she lost the rest.
Georg has incubated the eggs during the time, but something frightens him. Was it the pine marten that was already in the nest?

In April there was a pine marten in the nest, but the big EJ drove him away.

Stunning video, THX for covering it.

MIRACULOUS GUY GJ - he learned his lessons and returns to duties unless he doesn't fail to chasing pine martins...

LOTL - When are the osprey eggs going to hatch?

Image

So, taking all that into account, we are predicting that the first egg will hatch on the 21st of May in the morning, the second on the 22nd of May in the morning and the third on the in the afternoon.
