This may is dreadful & cold with relentless rain! Lot's of UK bird nests are struggeling with those bad conditions...
NC0 is a young and unexperienced female, let's hope she & Laddie manage to raise up their 2 offsprings successfully.

RiP [*] sweet lil birdy and soar high over the Rainbow Bridge, strong and healthy forever
Really, last time the weather is not friendly there :( like in almost all Europe.
I hope the other two are enough strong to survive these wrong conditions and I wish it them from all my heart :2thumbsup:

It was perfect weather this morning for the ringing of our chicks.
We are pleased to introduce our first chick as female LR1 and our second chick as male LR2.

Catching and eating fish can be messy business! LM12 likes to wash his talons on the go by dipping them into the water as he flies across the loch.

We can't believe that our chicks are already 3 weeks old and growing at an incredible rate. It won't be long before they start testing their wings out.
Learn more about the incredible range of feathers on their bodies that allow them to take to the air in our latest blog.

Our second chick LR2 got some serious height yesterday and has been practising and peering all day over the edge of the nest, just like a nervous kid on the high diving boards, waiting for the perfect moment to take his first flight.
He finally took the plunge at around 17:40 today, taking advantage of some gusts of wind, before returning to the nest with a bit of an ungainly landing.
We'll post more tomorrow, but for now enjoy this clip from yesterday!

Osprey update: NC0 is currently sitting on top of the camera begging for food. Big question is when will she depart? Read our latest blog.

On the 7th of August at 6.40pm, we witnessed NC0 on the osprey nest at Loch of the Lowes feeding her chick, LR1. Could this be the last time she is seen before she heads off to West Africa? Only time will tell.
