 Hi, everyone!
So many Osprey nests to keep up with. It’s great to come here to see what is happening.
The Bear at Charlo, Montana, was totally unexpected,. Luckily, the eggs weren’t reached, and everything is okay.

Seira, thanks for the reports, about the Savannah nest. I have been following the camera at bit, and I have been wondering about chick #3. It is so much smaller than the other two, but still manages to get fed. He is a smart little fighter, which I admire.
If you know, can you tell me how much older are the two bigger chicks? #3 still hasn’t got the white feathers on it’s neck.
Thank you.

Savannah, Georgia

chick #1 - 4/12 2230, chick #2 - 4/14 0816, chick #3 4/16 0830-1017
I think the gap in chick hatching time is not too big

This is my thought.
I watch this nest regularly. The chicks fight each other in a few days after hatching, and even #3 will fight back its siblings, hard to watch. I remember the last time I saw such a serious situation was the 2016 Latvian osprey nest, which was frustrated and anxious throughout the breeding season.
In Savannah nest, #1 is more dominated. When #1 established its position, it did not mind sharing food with siblings. Since May, I have not seen #1 has aggressive behavior against its siblings. The problem is that #2 is more aggressive, it will attack #3, not only at feeding time, but this is out of survival instinct.
As #3 grew stronger, it learned to observe and wait. Since mid-May, the situation has indeed improved a lot. Although it is still the case that #2 attacks #3, but not as frequent and intense. And #3 has improved a lot in body size, the feathers have become richer and its wing exercise is great.
Mr. and Mrs. O are great parents, they provide a lot of whalefish. Savannah Trio are well cared for.
I will keep positive thought, fingers crossed for every nest.

The woods are lovely, dark, and deep,
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep.

Seira, thank you for your answer regarding the Savannah Ospreys.
I think that the two older chicks are female and the youngest is a male. That would explain the size difference, to me, anyway.
He is so cute and smart. :shake:
I hadn’t really been watching this Camera, because of the wind rocking the nest. But, I have been watching it more now. I see why you, and many others love it. The mom is great!!

Steve delivers a fish for Rachel, she leaves and he settles down on the eggs when suddenly a Bald Eagle attacks and drags Steve from the nest. In the video, you can see Steve free himself, then go after the Eagle. He has not been seen since this incident.

TWO EGGS HATCHED. :D :gathering:
There was about a 5 hour timeframe between each hatch. I only caught the first hatch and the aftermath of it all. :loveshower:

I am so glad you are enjoying the videos, Cessie!

One more tonight, I think. This one, you can really see the chick's faces, good, and nice and clear, too. :loveshower:

Thank you so much, Chimega.
The feeding, that you videoed, before this one, was very good. Harriet is a super pro, chick feeder! she makes me smile.
