Ah, but that was Nelli, the older female. Yes, she really put up a fight. And at least she died soonest, and so hopefully suffered least.

It didn't started "suddenly" this year, the number of goshawks grew eventually and I am afraid until goshawks are caught and moved away it will be only worse.

22.00
It's evening and parents are still calling.
What are they doing in the nest? What will be next? Will they understand soon? Birds have a complex brain and a lot of emotion :-(

The goshawk returned around 22:07. Ossi (I assume) defended the nest, swooping down at the goshawk repeatedly. But then at 22:10 the goshawk flew off with the body of a second ospret (the younger female, i.e. Reetta).

It just came back and took another chick's body but not before having to put up a good dive bombing fight with at least one of the parents.

Ossi and Alma
Ossi sat on a nest with a fish for over 2 hours. Finally he ate the fish and flew off at 16.09.
Alma hasn't been nearby since yesterday morning?

Chick died of starvation in Paltam? Is he still in the nest? I don't see, it's confusing.

Ossi and Alma

13.30 Ossi brought a piece of fish. He stood with the dead chicken for almost an hour and listened. Just silence and wind. Sad and quiet.

Then he flew away with the fish.

I don't know if Alma was seen.

Ossi and Alma

22.30 Ossi sat on camera and ate fish, flew away.

Has anyone seen Alma ?? Maybe she saw no baby and she had no reason to return to her nest. Ossi has a duty to bring the fish over and over and cannot stop. He'll probably be coming back. I hope Alma is fine.
