Thought I would add this program, available for all platforms. Note, it is a command line program meaning it lacks a GUI but that does mean it is easily deployed from scripts towards automating the recording task.

Streamlink - found https://streamlink.github.io/index.html

I have tried it under linux and it did well - for 6 hours on the WTE stream. Then it failed but that seems to be something to do with Youtube.

thes ame happened to me. It worked 3 days without problems. Then I had the message that the trial version has expired. I thought that was impudence, it should be freeware. I paid 19 euros. Now it works.

I use Bandicam to record and capture images.
Easy to use, friendly for the average user. Available in 39 languages.
The free version has a recording limit of 10 minutes. You just have to review all the settings and choose the best ones.
The only minus is the logo on the film (here you can see the logo https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g05jHyy0mpI ) and on the captured images (bottom right corner). The one on the screenshots I managed to reduce as much as possible, I can't do that in movies.

Available for download from https://www.bandicam.com
You can also download Bandicut (a program to combine, cut movies recorded in Bandicama) to it https://www.bandicam.com/bandicut-video-cutter/

I found a free screen recorder software. For me the best of all the I have seen.
An extensive Help file is also included. If you take the free version, you can record a maximum of 10 minutes.
You can choose your language. Microsoft provides this software. During installation, you will be asked for the product key. Just ignore this point. You choose to install.

https://www.microsoft.com/de-de/downloa ... x?id=27870

It includes also a encoder software.

Applies to download original file from youtube streams:

If something interesting happens, I have a 4-hour time window. i can record the youtube stream 4 hours back. Then we have the original file
I just have to know it - that's all. And i have to be available. The advantage is that you can zoom these files well without compromising on quality. It is more detailed than screen recordings.

Alternatively, you can of course record via VLC or Potplayer. But you always have to watch the camera.

Does anyone know what's going on with the archive for the footage?
The website's been down (http://193.40.124.24/) for a few days now...

oh dear, now it has happened. :slap:
the Pontu archive was in the domain of EENet.ee. some time ago (last spring, summer, autumn; i can't remember when exactly) EENet.ee stopped being the internet provider for Looduskalender services. we were worried about how this would affect the Pontu archive, and we anticipated that EENet would not host Pontu forever either. i'm afraid that now they have plugged it off.

i hope they have found some other server system where they have stored the archive. i have no information about this. i'll ask if someone knows.

Thanks, ame!

I liked the archive as a great way to access events from the last days (or even older).

The archive does not seem to have been reactivated. I think that is a pity because it offered a lot of possibilities. For example: Someone has observed something on the nest and reports about it in the forum, but does not deal with recording videos. Someone else could later look in the archive and make a video of the situation. There are many other examples why I appreciated the archive so much.

Jo UK had told me in the "Ivo + Iiris" thread that there would be problems with the electricity:
viewtopic.php?p=719550#p719550

It seems that there was no solution...

yes, it seems that the Pontu archive is still of-line. at least the old address does not work.

i believe though that the data itself cannot be lost. it is somewhere but out of our reach. too bad. :slap:

Thank you for purchasing YouTube By Click.
Unfortunately, YouTube changed the way the store the stream in their site.
The beginning of the stream is no longer available (Only when the live is finished).

Thanks for the answer.
Will you find a way to adapt the software to the changed conditions?

That depends on YouTube.
As long as they are using their new way - we can't

Hello,

do you know, how it is possible to see the youtube film in the VLC-player ?
i thought, if i copy & paste the link and add it to VLC in:
Medien > Netzwerkstream öffnen...
but unfortunately that doesn't work.
Probably it was just my mistake and VLC is able to do it ?

Thank you & greets

Hello ame :)

i tried it with this url: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GFIG5CtQNFY
and the same way as you.
which options do you use lefo of the [OK] ?
i chose Wiedergabe (ctrl + P), should be correct, i think ?

*still try again... :puzzled:

may be it is a problem with false options somewhere ?

that was the address to the BS nest camera, right? :D
i got it open, too.
i didn't understand:
"which options do you use lefo of the [OK] ?"
what's lefo? :puzzled:
i clicked "play".

maybe your version of VLC is too old? in the beginning of YT-streams the VLC didn't work with them. later it was fixed so that it plays them, too.
my version is 3.0.7.1 Vetinari
