More pics of Paula:

I disturbed her eating session as little as ever possible. She looked calm and content and was eating there about for 20 minutes.

 Hello Olga, good to see that Paula is well! And to hear that Squirrel Hill is doing okay too! I think all over spring is late and now nature is exploding, plants bloom at the same time which usually have some weeks in between! But it's good to see the sun and feel some warmth sometimes. Hope you are doing as well as the squirrels!

 Today I made a huge mistake! I removed by accident ALL data, videos, photos, everything which I had saved from the time 2006 - 2013!

All Black stork videos from the year 2008, Donna and Padis nesting, gone! Squirrels gone.. All looduskalender pictures, tens and tens of folders, links, etc etc..

My loved dog Girju, Nanu as baby, and Nappu, all videos of them together in the garden during the years.. gone.

All squirrel videos gone.

My most important external memory is 0, 0, 0!!

My PC was making backup to a folder that was there in this external disc and I just wanted to stop the back up for a while, pop up appeared and asked 'do you want to remove ..this and that.. I pushed wrong button. That was it. Now the external disc contains nothing, my PC does not even recognize it. It says: the disk has to be formated.

Dear squirrel friends, I am so sorry... I have to think what to do. I just can't use these things.. they make me mad.. I'll be off till I know if there is some way get back all those data. In English it is impossible..

OMG that's terrible, Olga! Can't you retrieve it somehow? Maybe ask in a computerstore if they can help you.

We will call, my hubby, to the store here in Finland where from I bought the external disc. They seem to have support and help phone numbers daily almost clock around.

What good that I bought the 'thing' from a Finnish webstore! Even its warranty is still valid - but the mistake was mine, there is nothing wrong with the 'thing' itself - it did what I asked it to do (without understanding what I did!)

I could cut off that cursed finger to get back everything! :slap: :vangry: <--- bad joke

I'm very, very sorry for your accident Olga, unfortunately these things can happen, only with a simple/wrong click :vangry: :banghead:
I hope someone with knowledge are able to bring it back to you. They say it's hidden somewhere in the machine/thing, so it's at least hope.
Good luck Olga, I cross my fingers for you

 Olga... does all that information not exist in your computer also ?
I have extrnal disk too but it hold most of the same files as on my computer. I use Norton protection here...thay have also 'Backup Files'. I do not even know what is backed up there. Recently they said it was full and asked if I needed more backup space.
Tomorrow I will ask my son for advice for you.

Olga -- it hurts to even think of such a thing (and to think how easily such a thing could happen). Best wishes for getting it back.

Oh Olga, that is horrible! But if you don't format it - please don't touch it anymore - there are programs which can bring back things! Usually people are told nothing is really gone unless deleted with special programs. I once deleted an important photo I had made for an insurance matter and let a photo restore program through the memory card and was amazed what all could have been restored even after more than a year! Ask some expert to have a look on it, even if it costs some money!

Thanks for consolation!

I have got some advises already, in Finnis too. Most important is now NOT to do anything to the disk. Yes, all 'now invisible' files are possible to bring back.

1) I need courage to try to upload some of those free restore programs to use it on my own and to test them.

2) I just need some other 'huge' space to save there all files which the restore program finds. It will take hours and hours (perhaps several days?? just to think of those hundreds - more than one thousand edited videos - to move them back to the original disk and those original videos I have 'made smaller' for youtube, by cut/clip/crop, connecting together etc.. If I remember right I have Donna & Padis pictures about ..hah.. 10 thousand.. :rotf: ..huh, just to begin with one 'detail'.)

To use professionals would cost some hundreds of euros - it's too much for me - us. Even now that I can't work, we are in danger to be forced to sell our house and to move else where.. (the a municipal water system is not free..)- Note: I do not want to talk about money here.. please

Olga - take your time, maybe get another external drive, nowadays even those with more than 1 TB are affordable (and admittedly cheaper than giving it to a specialist), enough space to move things to! I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you and the success of the whole thing and hope in a few days you will report that you could rescue all your pictures and videos! Pity we can't help you from here, but we can encourage you and hope for the best with you!
