Just when we thought the spring was here, we got a huge set back last week, 35 cm of snow in one day..

European Goldfinch (Carduelis carduelis) at my feeder

My neighbor was not pleased..

Blackbirds has arrived, and now we can hear their wonderful song from the forest. They are also visiting my feeder every day. This is a female, and the picture is taken today, 31.03.15.

I should not make a single step without camera, least of all go for bread shopping on Saturday morning without camera - the most interesting things happen then. Unfortunately I did not take my camera yesterday morning, so I just can tell you of what I saw yesterday while coming back.
This squirrel (photo from earlier)

Image

lives here and I saw it running on the parking place between my building and the next, which is the building where the crazy woodpecker made all the holes (photo also from earlier)

Image

The squirrel first hopped on a bush in front of the building and from there on to the building and it climbed up on the corner! I waited for it to return down but it went up all the way to the hole you can see in the photo above and went in.
By the way, last summer a great tit raised her young in this very hole. This year I saw already various tits and also the woodpecker testing this one. For them it might be advisable not to use this one, if the squirrel can reach it that easily.
Unfortunately I did not get to see what happened next, it was most probably already out when I reached up and had a look out from my balcony, this time with the camera ready.

Felis - It will be interesting to see if someone dare to move into the hole the crazy woodpecker made, or if the squirrel keep them away.

Airras - Your spring fruit and berries looks delicious. We have not even begun to think about strawberries here yet, have to wait until June. But we also have strawberries in the stores, also imported from Spain, and also expensive  :D
We do not serve strawberries in greenhouses, but on open fields.

Having a little sunbath on my balcony right now, I wondered about the multiple birdsongs in the garden today - taking a closer look, it turned out that it was all this guy here
He has a very good repertoire!
