squirrels from another continent
I have been watching drives in South Africa and in the last two days we finally got decent captures of squirrels

They are Tree Squirrels -- maybe they only have one species

This one walked past the car to the water

Then he ran quickly back to safety. Most of the time, we hear but do not see them. They scream the alarm when they see a predator -- eagle, leopard, lion or mongoose.

Here is one up in a tree, warning all the world about some predator

alice, thanks for the greeting from South Africa :gathering:
Great to see squirrels living there too! :D

Here are my latest videos
26th March
Paula, the most calm and a very clever squirrel grand mother here on Sqwuirrel hill.
The little 'Baby face' looking squirrel was there with her.

27th March
the long long tassel squirrel.
He..no, it's a she (??), I'm not sure of the genre.. was sitting and wondering for a good while, at last it begun to eat, and I let it be in peace, and went away.

The second squirrel of today:

:slap: Looking closer to his back fur I think one could see that there is a mite, a tick touched on the back
Yes it is the time of that nuisance here again... I have found them even earlier in the spring! So, dogs need the preventive medicine or poison, what it is actually.. but in any case their fur needs to be checked every day!

There are many different 'medicines'(?) to avoid the tick to touch on dogs. But wich one of them is th best?? Any way I know some of them, and Nanu does not tolerate one of them at all, he begins to roll on the floor, runs back and forth and seems to feel bad. He got it only for one time, of course - it was a liniment, a liquid. "Exspot", or what was the name that poison.

Poor squirrels just can't avoid them. They should stay only up in the trees. But, they just climb down, sooner or later, and as soon there are anything on the ground they can eat, there are they..

Yesterday we got about 20 cm wet snow..

In the midnight our electricity went off! We could hear some crash in the darkness, but we decided to check to cause it in the morning. I was this!
Image

The heavy snow had broken a huge branch from the pine by the parking place. Normally our car is just there close to the pine trunk. The trunk had fallen between the car and the rock! Our car was saved.

Lussi

Yes, I can guess that hubby almost got a heart attack when he walked towards the car in the morning! The huge branch was lying there just by the car, between the pine and the car. :slap:   What!!?? Is the car roof broken??!! No, it was not! He moved the branch further, and checked the doors: nothing, everything untouched. We are really lucky.

A beautiful squirrel female - I can't say who it is. She could be Mrs Mops, but I'm not sure. She looks younger?? No, I don't know! :D

one more video from the 29th March:

Phantom??... or Castano, not him. His fur is darker, on face and also the gray color of the body should be darker. So, let us him be Phantom!

31st March
...the small Baby face style squirrel female. She very shy. We saw her lately with Paula at same time. Paula is the almost the only one who accepts company and showing nervousness of an other squirrel - but it debends..
