16.Eagle electrocuted. Poland, January 2018

According to a news release by State Forests/Lasy Państwowe, the bird was found dead on 25 January. Scorched feathers indicated the deadly collision with a power line. The White-tailed Eagle is quite likely from a breeding pair in a forest near Złotów and was ringed six years ago 350 kilometres away. Currently there are about 1.400 WtE pairs in the country.

17.Ringed White-tailed Eagle dies after train collision. Sweden, February 2018

The bird was found Wednesday on the track between Laxå and Hasselfors, where two eagles had been seen feeding on a deer carcass.

Partially eaten foxes were found along with the raptors, according to the report by State Forests/Lasy Państwowe.

The Donau-Auen National Park is home to five breeding pairs. Wintering WtE from other countries can also be spotted in the region at this time of the year.

29.White-tailed Eagles in Saxony. Germany, February 2018

According to the article, the main cause of death in WtE the county is lead poisoning (ingesting lead from ammunition in animal carcasses left behind by hunters). Saxony is currently home to 80-90 breeding pairs.

31.H5N6 in confirmed in White-tailed Eagle in Denmark. March 2018

The bird was found dead near Slagelse on Zealand in February. H5N6 was confirmed by the Danish Ministry of Environment and Food on 1 March 2018.

The bird was found near the village of Leimetsa, Järva district, last Saturday. It was taken to the Animal Clinic of the Estonian University of Life Sciences (EMÜ).
