37.White-tailed Eagle found dead near Hoštice u Volyně in January was poisoned. Czech Republic, February 2014
An analysis showed that the bird, born and ringed five years ago in the Trebon Region (Třeboňsko), had been poisoned with carbofuran.
Another dead bird was found not far away near the town Spálené Poříčí (Plzeň jih district). See also doc.27

Ørnens dag is the annual event where DOF (Dansk Ornitologisk Forening) or the raptor experts within DOF are inviting interested people to come and get information about eagles in the field.
In places where the chances to see eagles usually are big, some DOF members set up their telescopes and let the many visitors have a look. Ørnens dag explanation by b.h-p

According to the article, the breeding attempt in 2013 failed.

46.Transmitter-fitted White-tailed Eagle killed by lead poisoning. Germany, February 2014
The female bird, at least nine years old, has survived a poisoning already in 2010. She could be rescued, got a transmitter and was released “into the wild” in 2011. The bird died one day after she was found on 13 February. According to the NABU, she was the fourth WtE who had do die due to a poisoning, caused by the use of lead ammunition this winter.

A WtE pair lives near Demmin in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania since last summer.
Now about 12 trees were cut next to the nest, even though forest work is strictly forbidden from January to July around such an area.
